It would be cool if they did it as a "ranged tank" or basically kiting, give the ranger the ability to either dps or kite-tank and occupy the mob so others can pound the crap out of it.

For most of vanguards life i played on an intel core2duo e8500 running around 3.75GHZ, 2 different video card setups. Launch ( 2X 8800GTS ) , then moved to a single GTX570. Built a new machine a couple years ago intel Quadcore 950 @ 4GHZ with a GTX670. always got over 60 FPS everywhere...

Bullshit. Once I got an SSD vanguard ran exceptionally well and even before that there were modifications you could do to get it there.... for everyone ? No, but the game does not play like shit on current hardware or even 2009 hardware and to this day it runs better than eq2 does.

The thing that shocked me right away was alpha access being so cheap. To me, you are making a significant time investment to participate in an alpha and really want to be part of helping the game succeed and I would think folks in that mindset would be willing to part with more than $45. I...

A move toward casual got a ton of people into gaming that were not gamers before... that said, in that population there are those that like to think of themselves hardcore and while 10 years ago "everyone" was hardcore, you have to think that there are newer gamers out there wanting to push the...

Indeed !! there was often enough detail in leveling areas that you may go back a few times and learn more about the area. It took me several rerolls before I even figured out that TK was connected to cainworth hall and castle Landview and I still have yet to do the final encounter for those...

Indeed, i guess what offends me in some way is giving a guy props for being a good PM ? Is just not all that interesting to me. Its not like he at anytime moved the industry in a new direction anything near what Brad has done, yet is is heralded around here for whatever reason.

Why people give credit to Hartsman for Rift is beyond my comprehension. Talk about a mediocre piece of junk of a game ( RIFT ) that could have been so much more. If your goals are shoot for the WoW experience with little to no innovation and give them maybe 1/4 the experience of WoW, hats off...

/yes And you have to imagine what will happen. SOE either funds or buys pantheon. Has Brad discussed RMT ? I certainly hope we don't see SOE style RMT in this game and gambling.

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Its all just RMT. What the gaming industry did is capture that market by building it into their games, now its being used to fund games. I don't really have a problem with that per-se but I do not like kickstarter for the reason you point out. I pledged for this game just because of the...

AAs help you solo old content that was not soloable at launch and i think that takes care of it, in addition to twinking etc. In my mind i would like to see at least 80% of the content group based underground dungeons or open world area dungeons.. etc. Figure with this game AAs will come...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

I would say more shallow class and encounter design... but i get what you are saying. To me if classes had enough ways to affect an encounter other than fitting into 3 categories ( heal, tank dps ) you could design encounters with various ways to defeat them and thus have more options in...

DDO did it... you get XP for dungeon completion... and You don't necessarily have to KILL everything to do so ( you can stealth through sometimes, or there are puzzles etc )..... you know like real D&D..

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Yeah... in fact I like the idea that in vanguard with a good Psi, you could bascially be without enough dps or even with out a dedicated healer and get some stuff done... I truly hope for an enchanter type spellcaster where CC is its game.

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

You know all this talk of Aggro and stuff, makes me think of DDO. DDO had on sight aggro for most of the game, but DDO benefited from additional things like SPOT / Listen checking, which mobs could do and you can hide from with spells, abilities etc. So there was a system in place other than...

You are correct this is an AI issue, but i think Draegan is thinking out of the box ... at least that is the way I took what he said. If the AI improved to where sight = a reaction from mobs... dealing with silencing those mobs and preventing those reactions ( replaces pulling )... however, in...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

This is an excellent point but I don't know if it is out of scope for this MMO. While I always liked the strategy around pulling, as Draegan points out there are more realistic and better ways to "infiltrate" a dungeon. Again, not sure if out of scope, but I think this is a big deal and the...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

The important point about classes is they all play differently.. this was true in vanguard and NOT true in almost every other MMO since. If you can add 100 that play differently do so, if not do not add them IMO.

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

It would be interesting if this game took a turn less big open world and more dungeon crawler, not suggesting the world would be instanced .... but to reduce scope perhaps world is smaller and there are more dungeons... i dunno maybe that is more resource.. but I sincerely hope at least 75% of...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

It was the "everything was contested" nature of it that just made it fun.. it was like an arms race at launch, if one side was more in force, you lose control of dungeons... and thus your gear sucks and thus you get stomped in pvp... literally had to call other guilds just to level near each...
