    Murders and Shootings

The more I think about it, the more I come to feel that nothing should be done. Lawmakers will limit our freedoms if we push them to do something, and I imagine that we won't be safer in the least. What's more, we're just perpetuating this harmful idea that we need to fear our neighbors and...

    Have you cheated?

Well, sometimes I think that I might be a bad person. Kinda why I was asking if anyone else felt the same.

    Murders and Shootings

imo one of the best things you can do for your children is to teach them that living in constant fear of their community is a bad thing

    Murders and Shootings

Yes, but limiting information is a huge step in the wrong direction. It kind of pains me to say this, but the media shouldn't be blamed. EDIT: They really shouldn't blow everything out of proportion like they do, though.

    Murders and Shootings

This is a really complicated issue. While institutionalized, you're basically imprisoned and it's a horrible experience that doesn't really help the bigger problem. You get an hour of therapy twice a week or so, which is the only helpful part, and the rest of the time you're miserable, cold...

    Murders and Shootings

Maybe your wife should just talk to her. It's strange we live in a place where you see someone crying, and you rush to report them anonymously instead of just initiating dialogue.

    Murders and Shootings

This may seem a bit extreme too, but what if therapy became a requirement in the school systems? It could do a lot more good than just preventing one horrific incident like this. An hour of therapy once every two weeks for every kid in America? Crazy maybe, but it seems like a good idea.

    Murders and Shootings

Being committed is a bit extreme. It's like being punished for a crime you haven't committed. Out patient therapy is a much better option.

    Murders and Shootings

If we work to de-stigmatize therapy, and asking for help when you need it, this sort of thing could be an effective prevention measure. I don't really see how a person could argue that funding for more kids to get therapy is a bad thing.

    Murders and Shootings

Would you guys actually support more frequent lengthy stays in psych wards for people that may be a risk? I've been locked away in these places a few times, and it's really a terrible experience that didn't help me in the least. Being jailed on the whims of a cop/psychologist sucks.

This is an interesting approach to the issue, but I don't see it as being economically viable.

    Murders and Shootings

"I'm afraid of children my own age. They kill each other. Did it always used to be that way? My uncle says no. Six of my friends have been shot in the last year alone. Ten of them died in car wrecks. I'm afraid of them and they don't like me because I'm afraid. My uncle says his grandfather...

    Murders and Shootings

Then let's explore those options with level heads and not force laws into existence with our emotions. One huge difference between Norway and USA is that Norway isn't going to let one crazy asshole with guns fuck up life for everyone else. It's like we're taught to fear our fucking neighbors...

    Murders and Shootings

There is no preventing situations like this from happening in the near or even distant future, sadly. Any measures taken to prevent it will really just hurt the innocents more. Terribly sad story

    Have you cheated?

It's really interesting to read what relationships/marriage mean to different people. I suppose for me, it comes down to how much I reallycareabout the other person. If I'm dating someone I don't really love just because I'm lonely, then I'd probably cheat if a nice opportunity presented...

i'm beginning a Crusade against Manginas

I didn't even pick my avatar. Some clueless mod googled anemone and picked a random pic that looked cool. Anyone that took the time to know me would know that I'm not about the sea anemones, and I'm more of a land flower gay.

i'm beginning a Crusade against Manginas

Why are Internet men all borderline paranoid about the genitals of strangers they talk to online? Are they like looking for romance on websites like this lol? My friend Dawn met her husband in WoW though, so it's not impossible I guess. Improbable though. For the record: I never claimed to...

Rules of Rerolled, first draft edition

I'm new here, so keep in mind that I don't know all the nuances and blah blah about how things are generally run. I have my dad's insurance until my birthday, thanks to Obama, but then I'm gonna have to wait for the real Obamacare to come into effect so I'll be without for a while. Which sucks.

    Have you cheated?

I find my opinions on the subject change based on what works of literature I've read recently. When I was dating the married guy I was rediscovering Heinlein, which I think explains a lot.

    Have you cheated?

It kinda seems like most people have, at least once. You hear sob stories from friends, so you figure it must happen a lot right? I'm kind of sickeningly interested in the personal lives of strangers, so tell me: have you? I haven't really, but I've done something just as bad, if not worse...

    Parent Thread

Parents never get teenaged girls, but they should really try to. Lack of motivation is a serious problem in our modern first world societies, and the causes aren't always clear. You can't really blame her too much though, these days every teenager is a nihilist and it's really hard to care...
