    Total War: Warhammer

Anyone have a good beginner guide to link to for this one. Never played any of the Total War series. I'm playing the Eye of the Vortex as Elves. Is it like Civ where I'm meant to start out by grabbing a few of these cities then build them up? Or constantly expand?

I went with the Infinity CR Plus! I heard that the .15 nozzle clogs really easily if you don't thin it down a lot. Many people went up to the .2 and that seemed like a good idea for me as well. So mine is coming with the .2 and .4 sizes. I can always move down to the .15 if I needed to...

Yup so I am considering either.... Iwata HP-CS for around $160, the Iwata Hi Line for around $250 or the Infinity CR + for $320. I see the Angel Giraldez stuff and it is crazy good. The other thing with the CR+ is that you get a .15 and a .4 needle, or a .2 and .4. So you can swap them...

More Imperial Fists in progress! I'm also contemplating a new airbrush. A bit finer detail than my Patriot 105

I have an airbrush booth with an exhaust and it vents out the window, but I still use a mask. Sometimes it seems like it's unecessary, but if I spray a lot I always wear one.

Nice I'm defintely gonna try this. Yesterday I was watching one of Vince Venturella's hobby time vids where he'll answer your questions in chat. Mine was centered around improving past my "decent" and you can hear his answer at 23:00 of the vid: Deliberate practice, on something like...

    The D&D thread

So I started Lost Mines of Phandelver with my 2 brothers, cousin, and a mutual friend of ours. I'm DM. I have to say it's been fun. It's a lot of work to DM, at least for me since I don't know all the core mechanics. But LMoP has so much content around it, and it holds your hand throughout...

My Imperial Fist! I'm happy with this guy although I know he has a lot of room for improvement. In the pictures he looks brighter than he is in person. Now I need to pick one thing to practice on each one I do. Blending, or edge highlighting or something. We'll see.

That looks awesome. Is that for a competition? That's a good tip! I've decanted some of my pots but far from all. She does really good work, I follow her on instagram. Her mini's really pop. She's good at bright color contrast.

Haha I'm in the same phase... build and prime! I did do a quick Blood Angel and base him. I started a Death Guard, and primed a bunch of other Death Guard plus 5 Space Marine Hellblasters. Next up is an Imperial Fist. I'm excited to try them.

That's definitely true. I did that with the NMM swords and I feel like I got much better at them after just trying it based on a video.

That looks so good man. I love it. @Khalan and @Hateyou need to teach us how to get these results hah. I feel like I'm at a plateau. I'm going to keep pushing. I'm sure it's just repetition and practicing techniques. @bigmark268 that looks so good. I may get some eventually. Problem is...

    The D&D thread

Rookie question. I can ask in the FG forums if you don't want me shitting up this thread. How would I roll for initiative and things like a perception check on FG? Is it's just the abilities associated with it? Like roll Dex for init and Wis for Perception? EDIT: Ok I see where you can do...

    The D&D thread

Yeah I'm a brand new DM and last time I played DnD was high school. But, we're all rookies so I think it will be fine? I'm relying on the fact that it's all new to us and exciting so we will build from zero. This Lost Mines of Phandelver seems like it's made for people like us. New, looking...

Yah I went the opposite route hah. Yesterday I called up the local game store and picked up Know No Fear box set, plus maybe 10 more paints. I'm trying a blood angel now. Next is Dark Angel, and Imperial Fist. Probably a White Scar too. And I love @Khalan s soul drinkers. Those look...

Ok this seems right to me. PC walking down the path, 4 goblins hidden. All in the combat tracker. I have the party roll for surprise or initiative or whichever, then play out the combat.

    The D&D thread

Yah thanks man. I'm trying to get from 0 to 1 on combat. I just want to be comfortable getting through the first basic combat encounter for Lost Mines. I'm slowly picking it up. They lay most of it out for you really well. I just don't see a map for this first encounter, so I'm gonna grab...

Ok cool. I'm using Fantasy Grounds. Doing 5e Lost Mines of Phandelver. I'm GM. I dunno what I'm doing yet. Looking for basic starter stuff for FG right now and slowly learning!

    The D&D thread

I'm starting to look into playing a game of either DnD or Pathfinder with a couple of friends and my brother. Online obviously. Roll20 seems like the way to go. To be clear, I haven't played since forever, so I'm basically starting over. Same with the people I'm playing with. They know the...

I gotta say this guy's channel has been helping me a lot. It's nothing new in terms of technique, I just like his pacing. He doesn't overwhelm me with too much.

Yeah I paint in sub assemblies. It's actually way easier that way a lot of times. The guy I'm painting now isn't glued yet. I just stuck the pieces on with putty to take a picture =p

    Miniature Painting

Making progress on this guy. I can see how it takes forever to get a model done if you do more advanced techniques. Takes a while to do highlighting, blending, all the small details. Still quite a bit more to do but he's looking good so far.

Yah airbrushed the whole thing in blue and then painted on the other colors. The gold I use is really good, it's just very rich and smooth. I didn't have to do much to get it to pop like that. Red maybe took a second coat I think but wasn't too tough either. For his eyes I did white...

Just a very quick update on the Aggressor. He's only just base coated and lots to do still. Clean up, highlights, all the rest. We'll see how far I go with him. I have a lot more coming lol. I'm so happy with the airbrush. I base coated the whole figure in the blue and it looks so smooth.

Yeah same for me, I suck at edge highlighting. I'm using it to practice. I'm not going to kill myself to get it perfect but hoping to get a little better at it over time. I think if I just do a little at a time and have a couple of things going, I can slowly get one done decently well hah...
