As bad as Sony is sure to fuck up EQN, I give em props for the "3 tiers" idea. They have some good ideas, just to bad such a fucking incompetent company were the ones to institute it.
I think its a good idea, if only for our community. One that just came up we haven't discussed in awhile is armor. I forgot how much I hated this, "everyone can wear cool looking armor" trend. That would be worth adding to the list. The best armor in the game should be easily recognizable. And...
Don't suppose the project could afford to develop boats? Man I loved my boat in VG. When I got tired of playing I used to just spawn my boat then float down a river and chill for an hour.
You can't make everyone happy but regardless, most of us trust your judgement. Both EQ and Vanguard (minus the engine hiccups) were outstanding. Just do what you do best and we will support the project.
I'm with ya here. So what if we twink a character. Its fun! So what if our older raid members hand down their gear to recruits. Thats how it should be. So what if we sell our gear. It creates a thriving marketplace. I'm 100% for ZERO restrictions on gear.
Not to mention I have to disagree. Gear is great and fun to upgrade, but in early Everquest, people chased levels. Period. Hell I remember when people dinged 50 they would get server wide tells congratulating them. Players raid for gear, but the ultimate carrot is levels. At least it was before...
EQ2 at some point switched the way damage is calculated. It was recent, in the last year but my wife and I noticed that mobs now deal damage by percentages. What this means is older content is now undoable by smaller groups, solo'ers or people who duo because the mobs damage now scales up. So no...
LOL, +1 for having the guts to say what I wouldn't. Since the political forums I'm trying to reinvent myself. But I want to say this, so fucking bad. But I can't.
I guess I don't understand your argument. I'm thinking at this point your trolling. POP fixed the wizzy class and we were highly desirable. I never wanted for a group again when POP was released. I basically lived in Plane of Storms, Plane of Nightmare, Bastion of Thunder, Halls of Honor, and...
Wizzys pre-POP were pretty much useless because when Velious was released we didn't have a spell, enough combination of spells to be useful to a group. We just simply did little to no DPS. Ice Comet at least gave us a "bomb" spell that I could cast at 30% that would straight up kill a mob dead...
Hey, remember, I was a wizzy in pre-Velious. Even when we got ice comet we were rarely wanted until POP. I know what its like to sit LFG for hours on end.
If this is what you think, I'm not sure your paying attention. I think this isexactlywhat he is doing. But again, I can't speak for Brad. I may be wrong.
And if Brad had a million dollar budget I'm sure he could come up with something that would redefine the entire genre. But he has already stated he is creating a niche game for the ol' school crowd. Now he won't become a millionaire doing it (actually he might), but 500k subs is very possible...
Note: When I couldn't find a group I'd sit outside KC and port people around. Was a blast, met a ton of people who I would later end up grouping with, and made enough coin to buy spells and gear. When POP killed us Druids and Wizzys porting, it took away a huge part of the game.
Guild halls have become yet another example of a genre killer. Yes, its extremely convenient to have everything you need right at your fingertips in your guild hall. Hell in my EQ2 guild hall I purchased everything I could possible afford and jammed it in there. But again, it allows people to...
I'd like to hear some of your ideas. You have told us in great detail all the things you don't like about early EQ, so tell us how to improve upon them, or tell us what you do like about early EQ/Vanguard.
The magic of EQ was how the sum of its parts created more than a game, it created an atmosphere that encouraged socialization. People would log on even if they had to go to work in an hour just to chat with friends or talk to guildmates. I don't believe that "that design isn't that appealing to...
There's a lot more to the game then pulling mobs. Some of the most entertaining conversations I've ever had were sitting in dungeons pulling (or waiting for pulls). And downtime in a game is a GOOD thing. Being able to go bathroom, smoke, or nuke a meal is a bonus. I'm also a parent. When they...
Its fun isn't a good argument?
I think what we've seen is the new ideas and mechanics that have been released in the past decade just don't retain players and its not interesting or fun. I think, and I'm certainly not speaking for Brad, but this game is going to be somewhat of a throwback to...
I won't speak for anyone else, but I'm sick and tired of sprinting through dungeons at breakneck speed. I just won't do it again. Its one thing to do say, LDON. But when dungeon sprinting became all the thing is when I became totally disinterested.
You need raid level gear in order to raid, but if raids are limited to a small, select group, how are you supposed to gear up other members?
Lets drop the elitist part of raiding and just open raids up to everyone. This is still supposed to befunright?
Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. These 24 man raids are so exclusionary. Having your "A Team" raiding squad is great, of course you want your best players raiding, but when your cutting out 50% of your guild from raiding isn't that defying the entire point? I miss hearing a raid...
Well if you recall, it was also used to dismiss the people coming along stating they didn't want the death penalty or a difficult leveling curve, or contested content etc...
I agree to a point. I spend months leveling up a tank in the Velious era, but I remember pulling one night in KC and when I logged off I sat there and said to myself, "you know what. This is boring me to fucking death". I never played him again and rolled up a wizzy and never looked back. While...
Great to hear from you again Brad. I think (hope) you will find RR is leaps and bounds above the sewage pit the FOH forums were. Most of us are really excited to hear what you have planned.
Yes, many of the policies are replaced, only at a much higher premium in order to comply with Obamacares new regulations. The issue is, that's not what the president promised now is it?
And how many of those signed up are on medicare, for free? Are all million people actually paying for the coverage? No specifics on these numbers. Its a pretty weak story.
