Kedwyn summed it up for me. I played through a couple of storylines without paying a sub. The game missed, but it's still more entertaining than pretty much anything out there.

My Shaman just hit 28.. Catching up to your Druid. 5000 Forest Giants later and still no freakin Forest Loop. Argh for rare drops.

My point is at the end of the day if the game plays poorly and/or combat sucks, all the good design decisions won't mean jack. It's like the same idiots from EQ2 early on are in a board meeting plotting this game, without a one of them being actual fans or players of MMOs.

I went from 1 to 8 with zero twinking on my Shaman.. Ouch, forgot how fun death was in EQ. Be nice to hit 9 and get SOW. Community seems good. People are friendly, and there seems to be a good amount of chat and groups. I just need to escape Innothule Swamp.
