    RFC EQ Emu Server

This server 100% uses ideas that have been on some of the best emu servers (no need to reinvent the wheel) but nobody has ever put these ideas together like this. The whole premise is sustainability. You've got to let the wolves get theirs, but you build things in a way that encourages pvp...

Nothing crazy about it at all. The average pvp EQ player is worth 5-6 non-pvp EQ players, so it makes perfect sense that 4 pvpers could take over something as simple as a thread ;)

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

I generally keep a pretty close eye on the mom market myself these days. In another 20 years, creating a successful mmo is going to look like Stonehenge or the pyramids. We'll have evidence it was done, but no one will be able to figure out how. It's already becoming a lost art.

    RFC EQ Emu Server

A pvp server would require more supervision than a blue server, for sure. I'd strongly recommend against any type of ROE on a red server though. One of the best things about SZ was that it was pretty self regulated. No bullshit raid calendars or lines. You just took what you wanted- if you...

    RFC EQ Emu Server

Both preference and ruleset, really. I played TZ until SZ opened. Moved to SZ on opening day and never played another Live server again. A lot of this stuff is a matter of opinion, but at the time the consensus was that team Evil had the most/best race/class combinations, followed by Neuts...

A SZ reboot with some vital rule changes designed to retain players and even out teams would be phenomenal. @a_skeleton_03 If this is something that would be considered lmk. I've got some very reasonable ideas on how to make it happen.

    RFC EQ Emu Server

Difficult to explain if you haven't played p99 or many of the other servers over the years. Replicating p99 would take a ton of work. Making a half assed version with a million "close enough" differences and a population of 50-150 is relatively easy (it's been done dozens of times). But the...

    RFC EQ Emu Server

There's always going to be demand for a classic server with: 1. A good/legit DB 2. An active staff that has the manpower and motivation to address bugs/issues and bring in expansions (assuming progression) in a timely manner 3. Solid hardware, ample uptime, and the ability to handle inevitable...

Baldur's Gate 3 by Larian Games

Actually I think it was the wonky controls I couldn't get past. I did a lot of OC stuff with the editor in NWN 1 and I was really excited about NWN 2, but something made me quit before long. Something to do with the map editor I think. Probably wasn't patient enough with it.

Baldur's Gate 3 by Larian Games

Right. This is why I mentioned (along with others) that D&D (any edition) doesn't translate well to video games without significant modification. What you are talking about are the tactical, detailed elements of an RPG game that make it really "crunchy." PnP games have to limit those details...

I'm pretty fucking critical when it comes to RPGs, but there isn't a reason to play any other version of D&D other than 5e except for nostalgia. Even then it would be hard. To put it in perspective, I would not have said the same thing before they came out with 5e. None of the previous...

    Doctor Sleep (2019)

It was a good book and could make a good movie. Yeah, I though the end was anticlimactic but appropriate so it didn't bother me. Then again I thought the end of Deadwood (the series not the movie) was perfect, despite being anticlimactic.

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Yeah, for sure GoT is another example. It really started as soon as they deviated from Grrm's text. Tyrion got the worst of the dialog aspect of that. The guy was known for his witty aphorisms but after they left canon his attempts were painful to watch. Edit: and those were professional...

Baldur's Gate 3 by Larian Games

This is true, actually. 5e will definitely be better than 2e for a BG game, but it will still be seriously lacking in video game format. Tbh, no D&D iteration yet has translated really well to video game format (except maybe 4th edition, which is ironic, considering how bad it was as a pnp...

Baldur's Gate 3 by Larian Games

I can't give you specifics because it's been years since I played 2e, but the mechanics are really awkward and dated compared to modern RPG mechanics. D&D 3.5 and 5e build on the foundation laid out by 3.0. You can move pretty seemlessly between any of them without missing a beat. But 2e was...

There's no doubt BG2 was an all-time great. I bought it a few years back for replay (hadn't played it since original release). Everything about the story, the setting, the characters, the adventure itself all stood up to the test of time. I had a really, really hard time going back to second...

    The Long Walk (2025)

Could be a great film IF they stay focused on dialog and character interaction and make "the contest" the backdrop for the story rather than making it the story itself. The audience needs to be eased into the gravity of the situation instead of thrown into it. This will allow the tension to...

I've been playing GMing and playing in a late medieval/early renaissance setting with primitive firearms- flintlock pistols and muskets only- for a while now and I love it. As a GM I was against it for many years but I'm discovering if done right it adds a lot to the game. They are expensive...

It's the only mmo I've considered fucking around with in years. So many MMOs are clunky to play, and for me clunky gameplay is a game killer. Clunky gameplay, terrible UI, bugs and broken mechanics, boring combat, lack of challenge... Those are the main hurdles MMOs seem to have a problem...

The best part about the first season was that it didn't take itself too seriously. It touched on a few topical, current issues but (importantly) it never felt preachy. They focused on being loose, easy to watch, and fun rather than trying to deliver some type of contrived political message...
