    The D&D thread

It's actually kind of a funny transition D&D is going through, and if you really analyze it, you can go pretty deep. I think Wizard's ultimate goal is to try not to categorize any race of humanoids (in its entirety) as "evil." RIght now they seem to be limiting it to orcs and drow- which...

    The D&D thread

What, specifically, did I write that made you think I support the sanitization of anything? Why don't you go back and reread the examples of quality fiction I mentioned. Unless you are living under a rock, you've at least seen one or two of those shows, and you know there is nothing...

    The D&D thread

I was going to make a super long post, but this sums it up pretty nicely. If your campaign doesn't have depth and moral ambiguity, it's probably two-dimensional and boring anyway. It's the difference between Saturday morning cartoons and shows like Deadwood, Rome, The Last Kingdom, Mad Men...

I know you didn't mean it this way, but that actually sounds like a pretty interesting plot point in a homebrew adventure.

    Everquest Mysteries

PoDs were beasts, they could fuck up most things in the zones they were in with ease. They could summon too. The chanter you were talking about might have been using the same trick I used to use, but he was also using it against NPCs. Stupidly, it never occurred to me to try it against NPCs-...

    Everquest Mysteries

Enchanters could cast the Alliance line on priests of discord to turn them into something like a pet. They wouldn't follow you or anything, but they would aggro anything that attacked you. On SZ I would go to RV with my DE chanter, alliance the PoD in the middle of town, and just stand there...

    Everquest Mysteries

MM, Unrest, Kedge, Perma. But few people xped in kedge at that time and Perma was hard to get to for lights and usually deserted. Edit: The first time I got into lguk I had already been playing EQ for more than a year. There honestly were only a handful level 50 lights on TZ for the entire...

    Everquest Mysteries

My first server back in 99 was TZ and I played a wood elf. TZ was supposed to be race teams, but it defaulted to light races vs. dark races instead, since there were so many people on team dark and they dominated for the most part. The darks controlled all the good dungeons (guk, Sola, solb)...

    Yellowstone

It's always possible there was no hidden treasure and it was one of those "but the real treasure is getting outdoors and exploring the wilderness" things. Then 4+ people died trying to find the "treasure" and he realized it wouldn't go over so well if people found out that there was no actual...

I guess. He won't say who found it or where it was hidden. The first I can understand (kind of) but the second makes no sense if the treasure was real.

Baldur's Gate 3 by Larian Games

DoS 2 is definitely worth a pickup while you wait for BG2. I definitely prefer turn based to rt after having played the Divinity games. Personally, the BG reveal looked like it was going to be everything I was hoping for it to be.

    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

Yeah but honestly the charm DPS is best when you charm backstabbing mobs and you need a melee to position the mob and hold aggro. That was essentially my optimal trio- enc, sham, pally: Pally with pulls, lull, buffs, backup heals, minor dps Sham with slows, buffs, heals Chanter with haste...

    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

Haha that does sound fun- dunno how many zones a necro and druid could easily both charm tho. Plus handling three charmed pets seems like a nightmare.

    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

Yeah, I've already done what I consider the optimal trio and it worked really well. I don't want to do that again though, so I was really just looking for interesting ideas other people had that I hadn't tried yet. I agree on the two melee placement making rogue a not great choice for the dps...

    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

Guess I'll go with the sk/sham/wiz trio. Went with pally/chanter/mage last time. Worked really well but this will be a refreshing change.

    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

Contemplating my trio now myself. Pally for dungeon crawls seems a must (tank/puller with lull, side heals, and hp buffs is hard to beat). Was going to go Pally, Sham, Rogue. Seems like the pally/sham are the constant with rogue, wiz, nec or whatever for dps. Not sure if there is an...

Project 99 - Green Server announcement

The most fun I've had on an EQ emu server in recent memory is when me and two buddies made an ideal full group of 6 (we each 2-boxed) on TAKP. We started as totally untwinked newbs and took our time, hitting every single original trilogy dungeon on the way up the levels. We made it a point to...

Project 99 - Green Server announcement

I hate lines/crowds/waiting lists and like to mix solo and group stuff. A server with a steady 600ish weeknight pop is way better for my purposes than a server with a 1200ish pop. I haven't played on blue in many years because it just got to be stupid having to wait in line to do anything-...

Did Everquest 1 - Project Monster (?) ever make it to alpha or beta? PC mobs

It made it to live servers briefly. Was very cool. People learned pretty quickly now to grief with it tho. I remember popping up as a kobold in the Warrens and going way far in, hitting another kobold, and starting a giant train that wiped out a couple Erud groups. There was a mob level...

Yes, but... In my experience this is generally what working at a game company is like. All the "enthusiasm and excitement" fade pretty fucking fast once the actual work starts, and then it's just long hours, slow progress, limited results, and delayed payoff.

Best movie of the decade ?

Not going to be diverging much from the majority here but: Best Action/Adventure- Fury Road. People have already mentioned how amazing the movie is at "show don't tell." I'll add that the editing is super tight. Watching it I didn't think there was a single second of film that should be cut...
