One of the reasons I loled in that "wow players get into ff14" video is that I could recognize myself as the cut-scene skipper. "Wait, you skipped the dungeon intro scene?" "Yea, I'll probably get it later on youtube, don't want to keep you guys waiti..." "DO NOT!" "ABSOLUTELY" "ENJOY YOUR...

If you ever tried to write a webseries, you'll find out that burn-out is a permanent threat. I admire those people who get webnovel contracts and stuff. That's why they include the right to pull out your story and reassign it - all their authors flame out and burn. Travis Deverell (Shirtaloon...

I'm not familiar with what a chargeback entails for both the customer and the company (I know companies get hit with fees and their payment processor statistics can get them kicked out, but what about the CC holder?). But given the shit you've been peddled and the way it was, I'd go straight for...

    Blizzard dies and Bobby rides

Blizzard stopped giving those, instead bundling everything into a global Blizzardwide "MAU" (Monthly Active Users), which also includes shenanigans, like WoW players doing the Heartstone promo just to get a mount: they count as "two" MAU for that month (despite using the same account) since they...

The point stands. I'm sure there's great value for it. If you cared for all those things, you probably would have picked it. But if all you want is a PS5... then you're being told by BB "purchase all those services you never used and don't want to, and maybe you'll get a PS5 at MSRP". There's a...

Oh, there will be a 10.0. The thing is, it might be the first expansion to... cough... reuse previous systems. Because nobody will be paying for new ones, they'll be told to reuse code. You'll have spreadsheet-designed loot ladders, maximum model re-use with minimal recolors, and a single...

That's because it's not Amazon. Bezos founded BO as a completely separate entity, and well before Musk founded SpaceX, and the first thing he did was to recruit and put in charge people straight out of classic Aerospace while he was still busy managing Amazon for the next 15 years. His first...

Because it is not exactly zero gravity. The comet is tiny (4 km diameter), but that's still a significant mass. It exerts a minuscule gravity (around 2 mm/s^2, or 0.02% of Earth's gravity). You can probably achieve escape velocity by jumping... but those rocks don't have legs. If they hit the...

I ended up bailing out during book 2. Most of the quirkiness was still there, but not as good and new anymore. Plus they were too much reality-based (yes, they live through COVID times) and... well, it didn't click anymore. But book 1 is one of the best fantasy/scifi-ish dungeon stories I've...

    What did you just read?

If you're interested in tales of plagues and horrible things happening, Connie Willis's "The Doomsday Book" (a play of words on the Domesday Book) is a tale of a stranded time-traveller in the Black Plague era as well. It's not entirely horror, but it's grim to an extreme.

Almost certainly not. By the time they launched WoW, they had seen what EQ could do. EQ kept growing and growing and growing, quarter after quarter - it only plateaued and crashed at the time WoW actually launched. SpaceX was no stranger to litigating earlier, when it tried to break into the Security Launches quasi-monopoly of ULA. The big difference was that they were flight-proven by then.
