Just a reminder that the Too Many Bones campaign ends today. Getting the new content, a couple heroes I missed from the last campaign, and the storage solution. I didn't feel the need to completely 100% my collection so I skipped most of promo packs and accessories, but the total was still a...

Diablo 3 - Reaper of Souls

Sounds like max of 1 ethereal gem per weapon but yeah, fucking garbage. Hope they don't make some permanent achievement tied to getting all of them maxed or something because this is going to be the shortest season yet.

Nice. I did my barrel holes for my Krieg a couple days ago and plan on priming them this week if I get a good weather day. I just finished my current Skaven project and played some Warcry yesterday.

Late to the party but digging this: Starting listening to Agalloch as a fairly chill listen while painting and found this recently via Pandora. Reading the backstory behind the band makes this even more haunting.

The End of Days - Ours. Planning for the Last Raid Boss

This guy had the right idea. Total fucking legend. Sucks he got 3 years in prison for it. https://www.kron4.com/news/man-threw-meth-fueled-death-party-for-his-wife-before-she-died-deputies-say/

    Diablo II - Resurrected

I didn't have too much of a problem in the beta but then again I prefer a controller which this supports. Using the thumbpads as a ghetto mouse sucks, but having the controller buttons for easy access to multiple skills made up for it. All signs point to no. Because Blizzactivision wants your...

That Trove box storage solution at $150 is nothing to sneeze at either. But I can confirm it is a good game with some serious quality components. I'd say if you are new or on the fence, check out the new content and grab the base game from them directly for the same price minus the usual...

Yeah I have the new Fireball Island as well and sort of felt the same way, at least about the box. And they gave $10 off a expensive-ass Broken Token organizer which felt lke a slap in the face. I'm cautiously optimistic that they've learned since then, based on how much work I've seen them...

Tails of Iron (Redwall meets 2D Dark Souls)

I don't disagree with that review. Like I said, I haven't played a ton of games to compare it to and I think whether you like it is determined by whatever the theme, art direction, and narration outweigh the short length and lack of depth. For me it did, but I get where you are coming from.

Tails of Iron (Redwall meets 2D Dark Souls)

Platinumed this yesterday. I don't do a ton of 2D Souls-Likes but this one looked pretty cool and turned out to be pretty fun. Posting here since it might have flown under people's radar. It's from a small studio, with a core of 5-9 people. Was very short but sweet--about 10 hours logged...

    What are you playing?

Tails of Iron. I don't do a lot of these "like Dark Souls but it's side scrolling" games but this one has been good so far. Obvious Redwall vibes here. It's punishing, but not terribly so. Might do a thread later on it.

    Actraiser Renaissance

I just caught that this was on PS4/PS5 as well as Switch/PC so I'm probably in as well. This is probably one of my all-time favorites on the SNES.

Probably a good thing for me, the slowdown in new KS campaigns has helped in part to break the cycle of FOMO and compulsively backing games. I still have a few I've backed that will be trickling in over the next year or so, but I almost have the storage under control and some point there will...

    Prisoners of the Ghostland (2021)

It was WEIRD (which should be expected, given the director) and a very slow burn to get to the finish. Still good, but it's not displacing Mandy or Willy's Wonderland on my list of modern Cage classics. Nic Cage is relatively subdued in this, but he gets a few random lines/scenes that are...

I like the color scheme a lot. Too much gold on SCE makes them look boring to me. They were lead back in the early 90s before going to pewter. pepperidgefarmsremembers.jpg

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)

This was good for what it was. I don't mind Awkafina but she sounds like she's been smoking 2 packs a day for the past thirty years. Maybe that's part of her appeal? That said, I liked the movie well enough for what it was--Marvel's take on the kung-fu genre.

    David Eddings

I would recommend the Elenium (3 books: The Diamond Throne, The Ruby Knight, and the Sapphire Rose). - It kicks off a new series, characters, and world building - The characters are a little less of "1 of every basic archetype" - At 3 books as opposed to 5, the series is a little tighter All in...

    David Eddings

Instead of derailing the Wheel of Time thread, I'll start one here: So I'll admit that is true for the first 2 series he wrote (Belgariad and the Mallorean). You had the orphan hero destined to be king, a couple wizards, a buff warrior, a rogue, a knight, etc. But the next 2 series with...

    Wheel of Time series

I didn't know there was hate for Eddings. Granted I did the majority of all this reading 20-some years ago, but Eddings still holds up for me. And I know my tastes have changed at least a little over time because other stuff from back then like Drizzt books have not held up.

    Wheel of Time series

At the time there was no end in sight. And if I were to find time to go back and re-read a series, I'd pick something I know I'd enjoy, like one of the David Eddings series. A re-read of Wheel of Time would essentially amount to a fresh read of 14 books. YMMV though.

    Wheel of Time series

I got burnt by filler several years back and would never recommend this series. It's the same reason I probably won't ever pick up the Game of Thrones books. Life's too short to read a series that isn't going anywhere.

I still don't care a whole lot for AEW, but even I wasn't expecting them to absolutely blow their wad with the debuts last night like they did. Regardless of my feelings about the quality of AEW, that certainly got my attention. Oh yeah, I guess I also have a thing for Dr. Britt Baker, D M D

    Ghost of Tsushima

It got a few awards but it was easily my GOTY last year. I think the two best games last year were this and Hades. After finally getting to play Hades a couple weeks ago, I think the edge goes to Tsushima, but I'm biased because I seem to have plateaued at Hades and it feels like a huge time...

    Ghost of Tsushima

I'm hearing it's incremental improvements to the original if you are just on PS4 and the new story area works best after the main quest. So you could probably wait on the Director's cut. But by all means YES the game is absolutely worth playing.

    Hades (Supergiant Games)

Been waiting for the PS4 release to get into it on the couch and so far it delivers in almost every aspect. My only rustle--have had 2 crashes this weekend and you lose all your progress in a run if it happens. What happened to autosave?

The types of paints and stuff we have to work with today are amazing compared to the last time I was active in the hobby (about 12 years ago). People used to be dipping their minis in furniture wax or varnish to get that effect.

LOL yeah the stacks of unpainted gray plastic plague us all. It's become a meme at this point. When I got back in I had to be very careful to not overcommit and repeat past mistakes. Just realize it's a marathon, not a sprint. The spray primer like you said and then detail work is a good...
