Agree completely. While I empathize with new players who want to watch the cutscenes, those cutscenes are loooong for a dungeon run. No way in hell am I gonna run those if I have to sit through those again every time. Rerunning those over and over for Darklight back at launch was enough for me.

Pretty sure they can be played whenever, but they take place during certain points in the story so it may spoil a bit if you do it early. I can't be certain cause I had beaten the game before they came out, but I think they are accessed through the main menu so you can do them when you want.

I think that's why I've taken to the Persona/SMT games so much lately. While there are some tropes, the stories are much more mature than the standard animu~ stuff. Though, if a battle system is good enough, I can look past the cliche story (I.E. Grandia series)
