Marriage and the Power of Divorce

On the non-degenerate side of things, I continue to be thankful I found my wife. I ran my headphones over with my desk chair and ripped the cable out. She took them apart, looked up the design, soldered them back together like new, and then had me make it up to her in bed. Tomorrow she's sending...

The 10-point system is goofy. Why have a scale if you don't use it? 99% of fights could be scored on a 1-point scale. Judging would be a lot more interesting (and forgiving, and allow for the application of penalties) if what is now a 10-8 were scored a 10-5 and the interim gradations were used.

A 0.75'' diameter bit can be moving 40 mph at the cutting edge. For wider bits that could be north of 100 mph (which is why you should turn down the speed for larger bits). There's a LOT of energy to be released if something binds mechanically.

I've got early onset hip arthritis so I've looked into the same surgery. What Askren had is a hip "resurfacing", which is significantly more durable than a traditional total hip replacement. While it is quite soon after his surgery to be engaging in high-impact athletics, in theory there should...

Within the context of the current rules, yes, the fight should be stopped by a doctor if there's any significant damage to the recipient. Asking the fighter is the wrong approach, as everyone at this level is tougher than they are smart and will opt to continue in a compromised state. That just...

A knee touching the floor has always qualified as grounded. The rule used to be "any body part touching the ground other than the soles of the feet", which fighters were exploiting by putting a hand on the ground while otherwise standing (hence the rules discussion about hands). The point isn't directly applicable to the SN10 test, just a general thought about rocketry and acknowledging another way in which the universe is convenient for us.
