I don't think it is really fair to compare it to the Sopranos, but the important metric is it is beating everything else and still hasn't reached it's peak. Also, unlike the Sopranos or some of the other shows listed, GoT has a huge international fanbase that is continuing to grow.

I don't think anyone sees them as black from the books, but I wouldn't mind if they made them black in the tv show. They will definitely want them to have a different ethnicity than the mainly white actors of Westeros.

XXD was pale in the books but was black in the tv show. If they made all the dornish black, it would be fine with me. I could pretty much give a fuck about having character's appearance match the descriptions in the book, as long as the character is at least similar or equally interesting.

Regardless of how long the books have been out, more people are watching the show than have read the books. If you are shocked that people would be outraged when a huge chunk of a popular show are killed off in a grotesque fashion, I'm not sure you understand how people work.

Not really, pretty much no one actually thinks he is going to stay dead. In the books it was less convincing than Arya's "death" by Sandor.
