I think we need to reflect on where our economy actually is though. Nothing is good right now. I don't have numbers, but how many businesses closed in 2020? We never really felt the pain of that. The rest of the market has been dipping, but it's been obfuscated by a handful of companies (mostly...

It's a long march down. We'll probably get a few green days, but I doubt this is over. I still think we see a 25-35% fall from the top (S&P in the low 3000's) before we start recovering. If the Fed decides to bail again, we may see a smaller decline but eventually this shit needs to course...

That's always funny to me. What other item do people purchase that when the price falls, they say "woah, maybe I should stop buying this." Much better to buy when it's at the highest price it's ever been! Now, retirees asset balancing out of stocks, sure, because you're not contributing...

    2022 Official Stonks Contest

I'm amazed that everyone has the market being positive for the year. We just had a 27%, 18%, and 29% span of years. Unless everyone collectively believes the new CAGR of the market is like 15-20%, we're due for a negative year.

I feel bad, when I talked to my mom around Thanksgiving she mentioned she had some money in ARKK. I wanted to tell her to dump it, but I didn't really want to go telling her that I think Cathie is a fraud. I don't think it was a significant amount, because she still mentioned retiring soon the...

Rate locks are only good for generally 30-60 days. I think ours was 45. We ended up closing 1 or 2 days after and they charged us to keep the rate, which I was pretty pissed about.

I think it's basically the big boys finally heading down to where the rest of the market has been. Everything has been in the shitter except for the top few companies, but because of their weighting, they've been making it look like everything in the market is great. The question will be, will...

I like that smart phones were brought up, because I've been considering for a long time getting rid of mine. In fact, getting rid of a cell phone altogether. I probably never will just because of convenience, but I think my decade or so in IT left me pretty negative on most technologies. I'm...

What you're talking about though is perfect market timing, just in a negative way. How many people bought the absolute top, and that was the only time they bought? And how many of those people held for a decade? People enter and exit the market at all kinds of points, and so this hypothetical...

I actually think it's the philosophical elements. For instance, the scene where Faith Hill is saying she never would've imagined her life turning out the way it was (heavily implying that it would've been a nightmare to her younger self), but that she wouldn't trade it. Or the one in this...

This episode was a bit of a miss for me. Still decent, but things like the daughter knowing how to play piano (I imagine only the wealthy or musicians would in the 19th century) and knowing the entire song without sheet music took me out of it a bit. Not being familiar with Texas, the Brazos...

    Smokers / Grills

I didn't fill the hopper all the way, and then didn't realize how quickly it'd chew through them. It's my fault, but at the same time, I probably used a good 15 pounds of pellets. Even with my cheap bag from Sam's, that's still like $5-6 in pellets for a single pork butt.

Got the smoker Tuesday and did the burn off that evening. Smoked a pork butt yesterday. It definitely burns through a LOT of pellets.
