I imagine that there are few gamers who upgrade to a new GPU generation every time they have to dip their settings below 'Ultra'. The majority probably upgrade whenever a particularly interesting title comes out that they want to run very well/can't run at all with their current rig.

Ceder... The project was fucking over. The funding failed. Paying out 45k to developers who were under performing was not going to change anything. Pay my family's bills or be 'the good guy'? Easy decision for me.

It's a game of exploration and resource collection. There is combat both in space and on land. There is an 'antagonist' of some sort. The main 'goal' is to make it to the centre of the galaxy by one means or another, but the player doesn't have to do that if they don't want to.

I'd say that's a pretty optimistic FPS estimate for some of the games you listed. I'd be shocked if he saw higher than 25-40 FPS in BF4... and even lower in Metro. Also, radeon 265 is probably the superior card in that price bracket.

1080p on a 42' screen is probably gonna look terrible compared to your current setup. Unless you are sitting way far back the pixel density is probably gonna bother you. That's why more PC gamers don't already do what you are suggesting.

Performance difference between the 840 EVO and the one I posted in my build are minimal. Also, what joe said about gpu manufacturers is pretty much what I do too. I try to grab EVGA cards if I can because they have a crazy good warranty.
