If I remember correctly, in order to play as Dark Knight, Astrologian, or Machinist, you have to level a class to 50 and unlock Ishgard, which requires completing all of the vanilla Main Story Quests and all of the 2.1-2.5 Main Story Quests.

Blade Dancer has two stances but they flow together really well, and you can spec into your favorite one if you want to ignore the other one.
