    Drones and Autonomous Aerospace

As someone in this industry here are my 2cents: 1. Drone-based delivery will happen, it's just a matter of time. 2. There are several very substantial but tractable challenges to this (and generic autonomy, UAV work). A: Payload mass vs dollar vs range: This is the same problem electric...

Note the existence of this thread: Drones (DIY, commercial applications, general info) which discusses this topic. Palum, I know you've posted in that thread, but if you want me to close/merge/whatever this thread and use that one, let me know. Otherwise I'll leave them both alone.

By zer g you mean the fact that player physics makes sense when the player is in space and not under the influence of gravity? If so, Zero g is great and is an integral part if the immersiive space e perience they are creating.

counter point: Besides that, you really can't tell me that the Brotherhood of Steel, Institute, NCR, Enclave etc don't have the resources to make some badass light armor that is better than mounting a few pieces of scrap metal to themselves.

I'm probably late to the party but apparently there are three tiers of each armor: Fallout 4 - Album on Imgur I thought I noticed that when two equivalent pieces of combat armor had different weights (except one was left the other was right). I don't know what the armor differences are...

Makes sense, thanks. It sounds like the two methodologies are similar, but the first one was poorly done because their software system didn't properly handle modularization to create unique builds, but now their system does. Like Blackwulf says they have a PU platform they can build against. Not...

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

As silly as it is to use floating point numbers in that way, never stop trying new things and using new constructs in different ways. A lot of programmers get stagnant and stop learning because once they learn enough tools to solve the problems they have they stop learning new tools. And they...

It's interesting from a financing point of view. And from a developer motivation point of view. And from a gamer's pov too. It will have an affect on crowdfunding even if it's more minor than people think. People are saying that if it fails completely it'll kill crowdfunding games but that's...

I generally agree with sylas but also think they are doing some innovative things. Their ship damage model, for example. The 2.0 alpha is in press ve because it is a substantial proof that they are moving forward. Is it a justification of the time and money spent? No. But it is substantial.

Nobody is trolling here. Arguing about it won't do much good. SC doesn't have much to show right now, but they have a lot of legitimate excuses for why not. They are taking a very ambitious approach toward a lot of their game mechanics, which I think is a mistake but is still a legitimate excuse.

I'm not sure what you mean, but I think that unlike other MMO PvP games this game will absolutely need compelling gameplay in order to sustain a playerbase. In other MMO PVP games we'll get abused by any kind of game mechanic just to compete with our fellow players and win. But after that...

It'd either work like: A: watching action figures fight on your desk B: Watching fighters fight in a ring/cage C: Watching dudes fight in a hallway. My guess is A. Competitively, I don't think it'll be as big of a hit because I can't imagine players being better using VR instead of a...

The way I think it works: 1. When in VATS in each frame the numbers are populated each frame via some gaussian blur + a ray tracing system. In other words, the accuracy of your weapon emits a cone of different dispersion levels projecting toward the enemie's body part. The chance of success is...

that's funny. Vanish is typically the end-game stealth ability that makes stealth really OP since it takes it from an initiator enabler to a sustained tactile attack ability. I have a lot of found memories playing baldur's gate where I'd sneak attack, hide behind a doorway, tree, building...

While I understand the general complaint of voice acting increases cost which means fewer and shorter lines must be used, I don't think that's a limitation to meaningful and entertaining dialog. It's just a limitation on overly verbose dialog. And in games like Dragon Age: Inquisition where...

The 970 FTW+ card has a serious memory problem that the other ones don't. Basically after a few days of playing it will be unplayable and you'll have to reinstall FO4 to fix it (every few days). It's a low-level firmware problem that can't be fixed without RMAing the card once they fix it on...

The reason I say hire more writers is that I am assuming the poor quality of writing is simply due to the volume of writing that Bethesda has to make for their games and how they generally talk about how small of a team they have relative to other AAA games. Kedwyn rightfully commented...

Not really. Like was said earlier the only games that attempts the same level of scope as Bethesda games is GTA/Witcher3.
