The reason I disagree with you is because through the entire BCS show so far you see Jimmy act like the same opportunistic, unscrupulous shyster that he is in BB. You see Chuck's exhaustion when Jimmy claims he's on the up and up, like he's seen it all countless times before. Can Jimmy be...

Just caught up with BCS. I really enjoy it so far. I really want to see good things happen to Jimmy and Chuck. I feel like I could enjoy a straight 5 seasons of him counseling old people. In BB I wanted to see bad things happen to Walt because I wanted to see him turn into Heisenberg. The...

Oh here we go, veterans of the MMO world still thinking they can put together a coherent build based on napkin-designs and hopium. Where are Draegan's prerelease builds from previous games so I can crush his hopes and dreams?

I'm sure they will. But the reason SC was successful is people buying $1000 ships. I don't think the stretch goals were particularly compelling. Maybe they got the minority of the population who cared about each one riled up enough to post about it incessently on their forums. I could be wrong...

So does that mean they'll pump up the size of a few tigers, give them 100x hp and 10x damage and have them roam around wrecking people just to prove that the world is harsh? Or does that mean they'll have the best resources require you to clear out a bunch of tough spiders before the resources...

So what have they said about world bosses? I like world bosses that are challenging on their own and require a coordinated raid to take down, but not in PvP games. It turns the game from being control over resources to being a PvE fight. My ideal world boss in PvP games is one that you can...

Could be. I think CU was able to monetize better than CF. Maybe I didn't pay as much attention to it, but it seemed like people thought that paying into the KS for CU would guarantee a alpha/beta slot that would be very limited, where as with CF they seem completely up front with the idea that...

Sounds like they have no idea how to determine a winner in Dregs. In Shadowbane a peon in the monopolizing guild was a 'winner' in that they could use the top tier crafting stations, freely farm in their farming areas, get whatever runes they wanted and generally play the game without fear of...

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

If I made a standard I'd probably make it favoring Tenks. When people get uppity about whether address checks should be !address or address != null it poisons the idea of coding standards.

I usually use (!tempNode.neighbor) because lazy but use (tempNode.neighbor != null) when describing things to people because it's more explicit and I don't know how pointers work in all language. Both are about the same to me in terms of readability and probably compile the same.

I think you're assuming that there's one ending GRRM has in mind and that he won't change his mind. Authors generally lack the reverence for canon material that fans have and I could definitely see GRRM watch the last episode of GoT, mull it over in his head for 5 years and then completely...

I think that implementation would multi delete. When you add the neighbor to the list you'll have to remove that neighbor's reference to tempNode.

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

Fun recursive vs iterative CS question: I'm building a hex tree where each node has the address of its six neighbors if they exist ex: I start out with one node and as I need to expand the space it occupies I keep adding nodes (and have to assign the new nodes to its neighbors if they...

I kind of like the alloy system since it provides the same sub-component system we all know about but extends it to have visual possibilities. Imagine you're rolling up to a resource area and ten dudes crest over a hill toward you with murderous intent. One of them is wearing all Polished...

I think the solution to that is to have tiers of resource-goodness. Most games naturally have that through natural application of resources, but it's important for it to be very deliberate and obvious. I'll use fish in AA as an example here because I think it's the best pvp resource gathering...

    Crowfall

I actually feel like the opposite is the bigger problem. If there are too many it's too costly for PKs to find resource gatherers, much less kill them, and then it's just PvE without much PvP.

Yeah but I didn't see any information on how the players acquire the ore in the first place. If it's just a static mine with infinite amounts of ore that the players mine themselves using a progress bar they'll have missed their mark, IMO.

I think the biggest question I haven't seen really answered is what the typical gameplay is for a small group of people looking to exploit Irondick Mine and make a profit off it. The same question for fishing in AA would be: A few players take a fishing boat out to sea. They find a fishing...

Oh and I think the Rune thing is lame, but I'd want to wait till I see the options before passing final judgement. I remember a similar system in daggerfall: Daggerfall:ClassMaker - UESPWiki It's fun in singleplayer games that aren't meant to be balanced, but I feel like if it's at all...

I just assume that all useful skills will be soft-capped after the first campaign so it's not terribly meaningful. I also agree with Draegan that all non-centaurs should be able to mount. I'd just want to see a discipline/rune that increases mount speed.
  40. Tuco

    Crowfall

I wouldn't mind seeing non-combat disciplines for stealth, runspeed, scouting and 'mount usage' or something. So you could have an class that takes mount usage and scouting (stealth detection, radar, far sight etc) and would be the SR-71 of scouts. Nobody could catch them and they could see...
