Gotta say, the screens they released look how EQ2 should have looked. Too bad it's 10 years too late. If the game is good enough, they are very passable. Certainly nothing to be showing off to try and encourage donations, though.

From what I have read/experienced, TESO has more in common with EQ than any MMORPG since vanilla WoW. It's not a lot of commonality mind you, but it's there.

I think people's love affair with crowd funding may be coming to an end... Based on the January numbers, projects simply aren't getting funded, regardless of their merit or presentation. Look at this gem that is struggling: Cradle by Mojo Game Studios Kickstarter

It probably won't work very well unless they allow dedicated servers to increase player caps and disable bots. If they do, this game may be tolerable to play for more than a 20 minute session.

I'm of the opinion that that matchmaking, while facilitating casual play, stifles the growth of a healthy competitive scene.

Really glad I got to play the beta because I was really close to a pre-order on this one. I have pretty specific tastes in FPS games so take this with a grain of salt: Games are so short I never actually get invested in an outcome. The bots are awful and annoying. I'm always so disappointed...
