Surely you aren't implying that the situation I outlined that is occurring on P99 is in any way similar to the eBay RMT of classic EQ? That would be totally retarded.
The reason p99 has a problem at the high end raid game is because they allow (and encourage) trading accounts for plat. Basically what this means is that if you are rich enough in plat, you can purchase multiple aid forces for the sole purpose of camping them out at certain targets.
P99 made...
Ya, it is awesome. Vanguard is an awesome game with some of the best classes, one of the most interesting and vast worlds, and some of the largest most compelling dungeons in all of the MMO industry. Did it have its bugs at launch? Yes, to the point of unplayability. Was the content top notch...
Enchanter, druid, cleric is probably the best trio in the game.
Complete heal for charmed pets (druid can charm situationally too), clarity, haste, slow, stuns, snare, invis, evac, hp buffs, ports, sow... Can take any camp in the game easy.
Even at its height EQ had 500k subs. And let's not forget, when anyone on this board refers to EQ, they are referring specifically to the 'golden age' that occurred between Kunark and Velious. So when people clamour for a 'remake' this is what they mean.
How many thirty-something hangers on...
No amount of content will solve the problems with this game.
Please don't bump this thread. If its buried on page 2 maybe no more people from our community will be tempted to download this abortion.
Hmmmm IIRC Feerott Spectres gave xp until at least the mid 40s... maybe all the way to 50.
Think OOT Goblin/Cyc camp gave xp to 50.
Off faction guards could definitely yeld xp to 50.
Perma could support at least 3 45+ groups. Maybe more.
Kedge had a crazy ZEM and also yield xp to 50.
All...
Can everyone stop worrying that this will be a WoW clone please? It's just simply not going to be, and you sound ridiculous. That being said, it won't be an EQ clone either.
Jeff Butler was hired by Verant in 99 as customer service manager, and wasn't promoted to producer until March 2000. Kunark was released in April 2000. I'm guessing he had very little to do with EQs initial design at all. If you are hoping for a similar experience to EQ based on Butler's...
Now, I'm not an EQ dev or anything... but do you think dungeon camps were an intended mechanic put in the game by Verant? I highly doubt it. They arose based on the simple need for advancement. It was the only (efficient) way to level up. I would put money down on the original intent of all EQ...
The thing is, your whole argument for auto attack is based on being able to take quick afks/attention breaks.... But this assumes EQ style static camps... If you have to crawl through a dungeon at all your group will leave you behind while you are grabbing a beer/rubbing one out
Ah there it is - you wanna type during combat. Didn't even think about that. Makes sense.
Thanks for the answer, even if it was dripping with venom for little to no reason.
No it's not an auto attack, but in spirit it's pretty damned close. A barely noticeable action that allows you to do baseline dps while giving you full control over your skills with minimal timing required... Sounds about right to me.
Because you generally don't do anything w/ Lmouse anyway except click spells (and I doubt you are bad at games). It's not so far of a stretch to just have to hold it down to attack... Barely noticeable.
...you're beginning to sound a bit militant and crazy dude... Holding down left mouse is pretty damned close to an auto attack (unless you are a clicker)
Hmmmmm I never thought of EQ as being like high school sex... If anything, EQ was about a lot of not having sex in high school... For me anyway...
Jesus I just looked it up... I lost my virginity in grade 11 exactly 30 days after Luclin was released (and I stopped playing EQ)
How long before release do companies release recommended system specs? Beta right? My rig is way overdue for an update.
I'm wondering since this is going to be released on PS4, if the game will be optimized for AMD products.
I'm playing a mid level druid right now on p99 for shits and gigs... I think a full mana bar is something like 12mins. I'm decently twinked, but that's still ridiculous.
Gotta disagree. If mana never runs out, it's a pretty meaningless stat. I'm not advocating 10 minute absurd downtimes, but after a pull that fully drains your mana bar, there should be at least a 60-120 second regen time from 0m to FM.
Hmmm I wonder if EQnext takes place at the time of the combine empire. That would explain the Ogre's looks.... But if that were the case, there would be no Qeynos or Freeport... Hmmmmmm...
I'm guessing FV has a sword (and looks more warrior-like in general) in response to the current trend towards strong female leads in games in recent years, which is probably more appealing to the young 'gamer girl'. This incarnation of FV is certainly more 'modern' than the...
Crouching probably won't even be in the game...
I'm not so worried about the ogre's size, I think it's just a distance/size error by the artist + input from the PR people. I'm guessing he had it to scale, but it made Nagafen's look 'too small' so they shrunk the ogre.
