    RIP Harry Anderson (Night Court)

I didn't know this. Only one I remember was John Ritter -- another great talent that was lost too soon.

Who is asking you of this? It's like someone asking me to replace an automobile transmission when I have no knowledge of car mechanics other than a basic oil change.

Reason why I would recommend WebForms instead is that it has a ton of built-in controls (like a data grid). With MVC you'll need to either build your own or find a third-party library. If one is just starting out it'll just add needless complexity.

And you know zero programming languages? What you're describing isn't particularly trivial and the fact you're coming in knowing nothing will make this exponentially more difficult. Given that you're mentioning Microsoft technologies (IIS, SQL Server 2012), I would strongly advise learning...

Imagine you have to update a Person record in the database. But the update being applied is only valid for females. So you need to check the person record in the db to confirm that yes they are female in order for the update to be applied. If not, a validation error is returned. Stuff like...

I suppose it depends on what kind of software you're looking to build, but I have yet to use any real math in my projects. Most everything complicated has been abstracted away into libraries so who cares. For instance, I am not writing on my binary tree sorting algorithm. I often sit on...

    Lost in Space

    It's getting scathing reviews.

    Barry

Actually, I drew a connection more with Get Shorty. Anyway, just watched the first episode so I'm a bit behind. But really enjoyed it and was great seeing Henry Winkler.

    Killing Eve

Not familiar with that actress, but her face is annoying.

    The X-Files

Then I'd say don't bother. First, what? 5 seasons were great. As far as "aging badly" I disagree. It's not like the episodes were pack full of CGI effects or something.

    The Walking Dead

What's sad is, for me, I've watched all episodes of Fear so far and there is only ONE character whose name I can remember: Nick. I cannot for the life of me remember anyone else. And that's the main problem for the show is that I don't give a shit about anyone.

Just go with the cheap one for now and buy the more expensive domain later if you feel the need.

    Fastest Car

I enjoyed the first episode. Hannah is cute and her dad looks like Goldberg.

I understand, but I also think we need to be pragmatic. This particular operation is never something that will be rapid-fire. This is literally a user entering some data and hitting submit and, again, it's not a user operation that's even all that frequent. Also, our system is not on the web...

During code review. But I'm essentially following the guidelines offered by Microsoft. This is (was) the typical pattern used: Contrived example... public class MyModel : IValidateableObject { ... public override IEnumerable<ValidationResult> Validate(ValidationContext...

Okay, we are developing a WebAPI so we need to validate that the models coming in are correct. The problem is that we often need to perform several disconnected SQL queries. Stuff like checking if some entity exists, or is in a valid state, a system configuration setting, etc. etc. So the...

God, this guy at work is driving me crazy. We recently switched up teams so I'm now working with this other developer that hand-wrings over anything that might possibly be a performance issue. I mean, I realize that certainly is important, but it ends up forcing us to write some really...

I'm a self-taught coder that managed to get brought into our engineering department where I work. The best way I found to learn is to find something to create that inspires you. For me, I was working in operations at the time and we had really antiquated tools for logging customer calls and...

You could switch to Typescript and that is real close to Java (as far as syntax and object oriented-ness goes).

The Paranormal, UFO's, and Mysteries of the Unknown

I gave up trying to explain to my family the vastness of space. They'll make comments like "It's hard to believe if aliens did exist that we haven't discovered them by now." They have no understanding of how immense the distances are between the stars. Hell, trying to explain that stars in...

The Paranormal, UFO's, and Mysteries of the Unknown

I feel the same. Although I think there are most certainly alien civilizations "out there", it's highly improbable that they have visited Earth or are even aware of our existence -- the universe is enormous and distances too vast even if they have achieved, somehow, superluminal velocities...

Bill & Ted Face the Music

Mr. Robot had an episode where they played "In Time", which inspired me to watch Bill & Ted again. Hadn't seen it since the 90s probably...forgot how absolutely great it was. Loved Napoleon -- "buddeee!"

Can anyone recommend a good Windows "cleaning" program. And I mean something that really gets in there and removes any extraneous stuff (like temp and cache files) that aren't being used and are safe to delete. Like stuff in AppData. My AppData directory is several gigs in size and continues...
