At the current rate it should hit the next stretch goal, PS3/360/WiiU, tomorrow.

TV shows and mini-series that have a defined story

One of the primary reasons I like anime is that most of the shows are serialized. Some take it too far and stretch stupid shit over multiple episodes (DBZ being the most famous example), or have filler episode that totally break the arc you're in and frustrate you if you're watching week-to-week...

So, for tech people, Windows 7 is just as good as Windows 8 for SSDs, because they know how to enable TRIM and it isn't an issue at all. So Windows 8 represents a null upgrade, with a significant downgrade in the UI. I'm ignoring the other poor decisions (and there are many). For non-tech...

Except people tried it and switched back. Doesn't matter if a Windows OS has more features if it fails to actually be a better user experience. Which has been the case for every other Windows OS for some reason. Windows 9 will no doubt be fine if the trend continues.

No... it isn't. It is a completely unknown risk vs the known, and minor, issue of releasing on the last generation's console a year after the transition. Which means that the actual installed base of WiiU, PS3, and 360 will be larger by an enormous margin. You realize that outside of the kind of...

"Should be." Can't imagine why they aren't willing to take that risk. And it is a risk. You don't seem to understand that. If any serious issue came up due to developing on a new and unfamiliar platform, they could be hosed. Not making promises you can't keep on Kickstarter is a very good idea...

They have half a decade of experience developing games for PS3 and 360. WiiU has basically identical architecture to the Wii, so that too. They know exactly what they can do, how long it will take, how much it will cost, because they have that experience. Not taking a huge risk, and it is a...

In the backer updates they explained why they didn't want to do that. It has gotten a lot of requests and they just aren't comfortable jumping onto a new platform with new technology they haven't worked with extensively. As they should be, they need this game to be a success and on budget.

660k in less than 24 hours and you think it is absolutely impossible it'll reach 2.5mil (1.84mil more) with 30 days to go? Basically it needs an additional 32k backers at the current average donation. It got 40 more in the time it took me to write this post and hit refresh. I'll bet it hits that...

Holy fuck I'd forgotten about that game. Twice, now. First time I met one of my girlfriend's families, her little brother had it and had never beaten it. My girlfriend knew I played video games, so asked me to help him with it. I started playing and the game was really familiar and the controls...

There was a certain amount of that. Particularly with the fact that the Genesis version of Mortal Kombat had blood and the SNES version didn't. SNES was the "kiddy" system, so there was a certain amount of older kids looking down on people with Nintendo consoles. That wasn't just a thing that...

Two years ('88 vs '90). The Genesis had 915 official releases, the SNES had 784. The prior generation, as noted, had a much larger discrepancy due to Nintendo's forcing publishers not to port games for two years (which effectively meant they didn't get ported). Genesis actually had a very strong...

'88-'92 Genesis had 55% of the console market. In the end it lost the generation, but it started out way ahead. The final numbers of the generation were 49 million SNES to somewhere between 37-42 million Genesis. Which was way closer. It was really early in the morning. Plus a lot of the...

So many incorrect things in this post. In some sense it comes down to games, but it is not that simple. Master System and NES were released in NA in '85, but the NES had been around since '83. So of course the technology was worse, it was two years older (though it had 5 audio channels to 4...

My computer boots up in ~15 seconds. Games load basically instantly. An SSD is an enormous gain in load times. There were some issues with speed slowdown in the first couple of generations, but TRIM has fixed that completely and you basically always get the speeds as advertised these days...

That is what I assumed, but I think that was the argument being presented so I was trying to clarify. I don't have enough technical knowledge to have any useful input into the actual meat of the matter.

Yeah, you are basically getting the advertised speed in both cases. The whole classification thing is confusing.

I think the logic was that not a lot of effort will be put into ports so games that already run fine on an AMD card, in the console, will run without issues on an AMD card in your PC. Whereas there might be slow downs or artifacts on non-AMD cards because the game won't be as optimized for them...

It isn't just the cost when it comes to the system being cheaper. It is that each individual component is something you can research and buy a reliable one. How do you prefer your steak?

    1. Well, science. Salting the meat with large flakes of salt (kosher or sea) draws water to the surface via osmotic pressure. But this water is impregnated with a ton of proteins and other substances which brown very nicely. Now if you salt the steak and leave it for 10-30 minutes, that is...
