I think I'm about done with the game, here's my map: https://factoriobox.1au.us/map/view/7a6697db00597961155d3ca195ad58280f65ab65278451c92d963b84394d78be/ I didn't use trains in Satisfactory, so that was pretty fresh for me and a lot of fun to iterate on. I've got a pretty simple pattern of...

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

There are exceptions to be sure, but one of the ways that transference between releases is lost is how many modders move on and either get jobs in the industry after modding or don't mod the same games. It's kind of a big problem in the mod community because someone will make a hugely popular...

    Diablo 4 / IV / IIII / Fore / Cope / Seethe

I dispute this. The last AAA game I played, Elden Ring, innovated in a very positive way. If you replaced "Blizzard isn't going to innovate in the ways you want", I'd agree. I understand why you'd prefer Blizzard just tries to polish and modernize Diablo3, but personally I'm not interested...

What's a good example of an aspirational boss in PoE? I don't remember them, but last I played was a while ago.

    Diablo 4 / IV / IIII / Fore / Cope / Seethe

Open world / many players isn't exciting in this kind of game where group cooperation mechanics are light. Coop works best in these games where players can coordinate and wombo combo mobs. But when it's just mass chaos with every player serving as self-healing DPS with minimal coordination, it...

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

Yeah. Modding is an essential part of TES / FO for me. I don't know about id Tech but Unreal would facilitate that. The drop in reverse compatibility with an engine change would be worth it for all the easy ways that modding can be done in UE.

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

Imagine the world we'd live in if they started using id Tech back in 2009 when Zenimax bought ID and released fallout 4 on it. Or if they were releasing Starfield on Unreal 5.

    Diablo 4 / IV / IIII / Fore / Cope / Seethe

Trailer looked fine. Showing an ultra grim-dark footage is perfect because it's an important brand identifier. PoE and other games have some pretty gruesome biomes but it's not core to their heritage like Diablo. Even if they expose 8ish major biomes, you need to flex on that "this is the...

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

The plots of "super advanced individual gets dropped onto low-tech world" is one of my favorite plots and helps break things up. I hope they include that as part of this game.

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

Trailer looks cool. Feels like no mans skyrim, which is fine. I really just want Freelancer 2. After playing Chorus it'll be hard to play a space combat sim with dump truck flight controls. I need fast paced, twitch space combat.

    Diablo Immortal

Yeah even if they make a profit from immortal, it's added a p2w stigma to the company that will not only make people less likely to play their games but be very sensitive to any p2w mechanics in future games. Even cosmetic and QOL options will be seen as testing the waters before turning a game...

    Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

Love to see new updates! Hopefully they can increase the pace and release it. I played a ton when Early Access first hit and it's really a great game, just need to flesh out the features!

    The Astronomy Thread

conspiracy: JWST got btfo immediately after starting its unfurling, all the data and press releases are faked by a very small number of people responsible for communication and now they are starting the rollout of a series of "black swan" events that will ultimately result in the JWST being...

    Diablo Immortal

The attraction of low-fun, reliable reward gameplay to online RPG gamers can never be underestimated. These always seem to turn into an arms race where players try to find new and unfun ways to progress while developers try and nerf that garbage (which earns the ire of players). I'd have to have...

I was disappointed they didn't revamp it in the latest expansion. It's a really fun take on a desert zone.

Are you sure it wasn't a backstab? I set up GINA triggers with my enchanter so I could test / find that my charmed pet was backstabbing, but I found it useful to run with my warrior so I'd know when it was *really* important not to turn my back to a mob.

EQ TLP - Vaniki (Level-Locked Progression)

Getting that one weird pet in a zone with unique attributes (or just anything that backstabs) and then trying to hang onto them while they try to murder you is a really fun and unique experience in online gaming. It's totally imbalanced, gets tedious to use after a while and can make traditional...

I miss that part of the raiding scene: studying l337 beta infos on raid mobs, preparing walk throughs and "presentations" to your raid on the mechanics, what everything should do, things to watch out for etc, then having half the raid fail the same mechanics a bunch of times while the other half...

I'm bitter there doesn't exist a good industry for phone games. The tech is there, the space is just saturated with p2w garbage because the consumer supports it.

This is a funny paradigm on live servers. Many of the best and most dedicated raiders in top-tier guilds either play EQ as a side-hobby or spend more time raiding in some mid-tier guild. There's just not much to do for them between raid unlocks/expansion releases.

    Top Gun: Maverick (2020)

I don't disagree with this sentiment but is there anyone in that crew that you really wish had more screentime? I don't have a problem with any of the cast but their characters were either generally unlikable or generic. There'd be more room for them without Maverick sucking up all the air but...

This sounds fun. I'd be curious to hear how it goes with your trio. With how powerful charm is, are there are lot of competitive gearing opportunities without it? Like is a full group with an OK-geared plate tank and healer basically getting scraps compared to a group with a good enchanter?

I think he didn't see it was bloody until he started drinking it, which is dumb AF. He got his hearing back because magic. The blood in the river part is kind of cool if only because there are thousands of preserved-looking corpses in the water, probably many from natives in the area so she...

Jibaro: As an entry in an "experimental animation" show this is my favorite. I actually did some reading on this and the background to the dancers was interesting. As an enjoyable show this was painful to watch. I wish they embraced the deafness of the Conquistador more a toned down some of the...

    Aquaman 2

Amber Heard is the most interesting part of an Aquaman 2 movie. Getting rid of her is foolish. They should just recast Grant Gustin as the Flash. Should've been him to start with instead of budget Jimmy Fallon.

Just unlocked purples. I have a healthy external source of iron, oil and uranium. Feeling pretty good about my base but I need to scale up production and am not sure how I want to do it. Will probably start messing around with blueprints once I get another source of coal and copper. I don't know...

    NVidia GeForce RTX 30x0 cards

Let me make a bold prediction: The release of the next generation of GPUs will kickstart the GPU scalping economy all over again. Unless NVIDIA/AMD and all their suppliers are dramatically scaling up production it's going to be a cyclical thing. They are scaling up, of course, but at some level...

    Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader (CRPG)

Glad to see the WH40k getting an RPG. It's one of the most untapped universes and so much media that comes from it is subpar. The premise of being a secret agent of the emperor on exploration missions is perfect. CRPG is kind of a poor differentiator from RPGs when so many classic CRPGs are...

Would have to be a substantial reward for poopsocking on that server to attract people to do it. Like you said it'd start feel like a live server pretty quickly. Adding challenge rewards would be hard because if you're not in the crew unlocking the expansions you can easily outlevel everything.

EQ TLP - Vaniki (Level-Locked Progression)

If you made leveling really slow (even like, 10x slower), a motivated playerbase playing optimally would still spend nearly all their time doing easy content. There'd be raids at every level increase + content release that would have sub-max levels, but those would be exceptions and still...
