    Runes of Magic

Played this a couple years ago. Pretty good for what it is, quit when the Pay to Win aspect slapped me in the face.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

SWTOR did a pretty good job with story, so it is possible to integrate into a mmo. It was the rest of that game's suckage that killed it.

Lol, you're trying to hard bro. And that is why I was laughing at you. If CU doesn't make it, I'll be mildly disappointed, but only for about 10 seconds. Anyways, as I said to Denaut, the back and forth is fun but it will be at least a year before anything tangible like an alpha is available...

Ok, now your trolling me. I already said I don't know him. Wish I did though, or any mmo dev. The only friends I have in the industry are the ones I worked with back then and we don't stay in touch much. A couple work for Sony on sports games, or did last time I talked to them. The others moved...

LOL wait, did you just call me a shill? I haven't worked in the industry for years (late 90's). The pay sucks and the hours are too long. Don't know anyone working on mmo's. And I sure as hell don't know anyone involved with CU. And all I have done is laugh at you screaming at the "piece of...

    Camelot Unchained MMO

Those are very valid points. But you also make my case for me. Especially the team aspect. So it really doesn't make sense to pan the game this early in it's development. Since we won't know until at least alpha if MJ is screwing the pooch or not. Anyways, enough back and forth for me. Alpha...

    Camelot Unchained MMO

You claim MJ sucks and yet he has delivered two very important games to the genre. Yes one failed but it still innovated and was a ton of fun for many more months than any other new mmo since. What have you done to back up your words? Build something that matters and maybe I'll listen to your...

    Camelot Unchained MMO

It may have changed, but one of the things I saw in my few years in the industry was an incredible amount of wasted effort and idle time. The companies I worked for (large and small) were extremely inefficient at managing workers imo. A lot of artist time was wasted twiddling their fingers while...

    Camelot Unchained MMO

That's your opinion and your welcome to it. But MJ has delivered more content that I actually enjoyed than you have. So forgive me if I glaze over your rants. Yes, MJ is far from perfect and neither was DAoC or WAR. But I spent more time in those two games than any other mmo except EQ. And I...

But it sounds more like a hissy fit between two rival cloths designers. Cat fight. Except one isn't participating. I'll wait until there is something concrete to actually review (see the TESO thread). Panning a dev wish list document is silly.

Considering the amount of time you and UT spend trashing a game that just got funded and is years away from release, I'm surprised you even have time to make coffee. And Draegan is disembling, nobody is whiteknighting devs here, and he knows it. We're all just laughing at the ridiculous...

    Camelot Unchained MMO

If you are going to put all of WAR's failures on MJ then DAoC was great because of MJ. Most people realize that more than one person makes mmo's, and not just one person is responsible for it's success or failure. I'm sure you do to. My guess is you have a secret man love fetish for MJ but he...

    Camelot Unchained MMO

Gonna love watching this thread just for the epic amount of hate UT and Denaut will pour into it. Never really understood the need for people to spend so much energy trashing games they aren't interested in. I personally dislike WoWstar but I just avoid the thread, have better things to do with...

Mark just pumped in 2 mil of his own money and another mil from outside investors. The paypal campaign is going on now, so probably 5.5 to 6 mil total. Not nearly enough for a finished product. Going to be interesting to see what he does with that amount and what it will take to finish it...

    Camelot Unchained MMO

A lot of games have been funded on kickstarter with far less than what Mark has shown. The kickstarter / finisher point is valid. The whole truth is that some people either don't trust Mark Jacobs or kickstarter (or maybe they just don't like RvR). Those are valid issues and if people just...

    Camelot Unchained MMO

People are against it just because it is Mark Jacobs at the wheel, they rationalized their reasons after the fact. If it were their favorite dev (whoever that is) they would be all in. The actual facts of the kickstarter don't really matter. Of course their isn't much to show for it, like...

Denaut, most people here actually share your concerns. But there just isn't any other horse going in the direction that the RvR PvP crowd wants. So they have to saddle up with the one that is available. If you think you can do better then PLEASE by all means do so. We will back you in a heart...

But it's also true of almost every kickstarter, election campaign and lottery. People are paying (or voting) for their own hopeful projections. Denaut's statement is just an obvious truth about human nature that most children are aware of. On this board every mmo that comes out some people...

30k to go. Had over 100k pledged in the last few hours. Should meet it's goal in the next hour or so. Now onto the next big test, they need real money. Even if Mark puts in the 3 mil he promised, they still need a lot more than that to make the game. Going to be fun to watch this train.

    EQ Never

Sign me up. Doubt the investors would buy into it though. Even the devs who made Dark Souls were surprised by it's success. I think a mmo version would be successful but I'm not a big dollar investor.

    Camelot Unchained MMO

Well if somebody else were offering even a hint of what MJ is promising then you might get your wish. But as it is, the PvP RvR crowd is desperate, so they will back just about anyone who promises what they want to hear.... Hope always sells. That's why you hear it every election.

    Camelot Unchained MMO

As I said before, it's typical of kickstarters to get most of their funding at the beginning and end of their campaigns. Not sure why that is. Yesterday morning CU only had about 10,200 pledges, now they have over 12,000 and climbing fast. So the idea of "hidden investors" pushing the numbers...

    Neverwinter: PC

You both have valid points. But the IP really isn't that important when it comes to the eventual success of an mmo. SWTOR and LoL are very good examples of that. SWTOR's IP is the top of the bunch but it couldn't make SWTOR a top mmo. And LoL didn't have any IP presence before the game came out...

Kickstarters typically get most of their pledges at the beginning and end of the campaigns. A couple days ago it didn't look very good forCamelotbut things are picking up. Still going to be tight though. I hope it makes it. We need more variety in the mmo space. Way too many WoW clones...
