Americans consider anyone from overseas to be from the other side of the world.

Look, we get it. You are bummed that they are immigrants from your area of the world. Hell, you may even be related. Lets get back to the updates. This thread was a great info feed for a while.

Do you think Obama believes in the Second Amendment?
  6. Grim1

    Gun control

Nobody thinks that. But most people understand that if he did have the power then Obama would cut out the Second Amendment altogether. So those people who believe in the Second Amendment as is already think it has been encroached upon too much. You can't reason with them and they can't reason...

Funny, taken out of context. So you think the bombs are a left over mistake by some government operation gone bad? Since that would be in context...

Boston Marathon Explosion - Today's Topics: Public Schools

Fast and Furious wasn't a shining instance of US government competence, and there are any number of other examples. Stupidity rules most bureaucracies, that's why I rarely listen to government conspiracy nuts. But as you say, even they wouldn't do something this clueless. The Boston bombers...

    Gun control

That was the main problem with the bill, it wouldn't have stopped the tragedies that got this process started in the first place. Most Americans feel like background checks are fine when asked, but they also feel it is a very unimportant issue. The economy is still fucked.

    Guild Wars 2

Culling seems fixed. Which is great, but the basic WvW mechanics are the same. Which means mostly zerg vs zerg and keep swapping. That was fun for a while but it got old fairly quickly. I think the map design is the problem, but I'm no expert. And there isn't anything that builds realm pride...

    Guild Wars 2

So true. So when Planetside 2 came around that was the nail in the coffin for my guild. It worked, it was fun and you could see your enemy. It also didn't help that GW2's WvW isn't very good for small group action, too much zerg and keep swapping going on. A big disappointment for old Daoc...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

/shrug Yeah, just can't get worked up by that kind of stuff. I'll probably buy TESO and probably only last 6 weeks, just like all the other mmos, and have no regrets. Mmos are cheap entertainment. Much more bang for your buck than a single player game. Am I the worst kind of offender...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

I agree with this. The reason I tend to hold back my final judgements though is the over hyped reactions of most mmo players. Almost every mmo has the same history for me; fun for two weeks, mildly interesting for two weeks, bored for two weeks, quit. And that is true of most mmo players...

Boston Marathon Explosion - Today's Topics: Public Schools

If an organized group were behind this then they probably would have claimed responsibility. But the last few years Al Qaeda has been actively recruiting and "Inspiring" soloists who act on their own without direction from the larger organization. So a Al Qaeda sympathizer could be...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

As I said, the same can be said of WoWstar, etc. Until you actually play the beta or the game is released then everything is just hype and conjecture. Claiming otherwise is just stupid. You can make educated guesses, based on other factors but mostly those guesses are biased by the player's...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

The same can be said about any game. Look at all the people sucking WoWstar's nuts. The thing is, WoW in space will be good for the people who like that kind of game, as will TESO and Camelot Unchained (IF it even gets funded or made). Complaining about other people's preferences is silly.

The pressure cooker bomb recipe was included in Inspire, an Al Qaeda english language magazine. Apparently it is easy enough to get a copy of. It doesn't prove that Al Qaeda is involved, nor does it indicate the motivations of the person(s) who did this.

    The Elder Scrolls Online

It sounds like the fans are the ones who are most disappointed though. I don't play single player rpg's much, get bored too quickly. Only lasted a couple hours in Oblivion, and still haven't picked up Skyrim. So I don't have much emotional baggage when it comes to the Elder Scrolls franchise. As...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Interesting video. Definitely got the AoC vibe. AoC was fun for a few months after they fixed it up. I like the clean ui. Hate having a ton of stuff cluttering the screen. Their behind the shoulder perspective is good too, and it looks like first person is viable. The graphics are fine, much...

What I Know Best: Game Development - Someone should hire me STAT.

Yep, if you are going to have fuckteenbazzilion bear hide fetch quests in your mmo then some sort of find it guide is necessary. I would rather work on 4 or 5 quest chains max. Have them last multiple levels and make them feel epic. When I open a quest book and see a fuckton list of idiot...

    Camelot Unchained MMO

Because you connect them. You have gone out of your way to pan Mark's design when all you are looking at is marketing hype. This is circular. You don't like Mark or the type of game he is trying to create, so have prejudged his game way too early. That is foolish. I'm in wait and see mode...

    Camelot Unchained MMO

You have been consistently panning this game because of the look of the website and your dislike of Mark's marketing style. There is nothing else to go on so you have extrapolated from that.

    Camelot Unchained MMO

No, I understand what you were trying to say. My point is that you are biased towards them. I also think that you are focused on surface details that ultimately have very little to do with how good the game will be. A website is just a marketing tool. Trying to extrapolate from that to the...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Yep, GW2 did do a lot of things right. One of the best new mmos to come out in a long time. But there are many things they did that ultimately made it a somewhat forgettable experience. The PvE is too easy for one, I much preferred the first beta when it was a bit more brutal and there was a...

But they are building something totally different and catering to your gaming tastes, not the mass pvp crowd's. So of course you would like that more. Is Camelot Unchained going to succeed? Probably not. But nobody else is even trying to build something that the mass pvp crowd wants. So we...

New Rule: Should we cull all EQ-Neckbeard discussion from game threads?

Well part of the problem with this whole episode is that the people complaining the most (Draegan, Sean, etc) also posted as much or more about EQ as those they are frustrated with. They didn't win their arguments so they went to the censor option when they got tired of responding. It's a lazy...

New Rule: Should we cull all EQ-Neckbeard discussion from game threads?

Hard to say when it becomes a derail though. The Elder Scrolls derail seemed to happen when Utnayan made an offhand comment about size of dungeons compared to EQ's. Which was a valid point and he wasn't at fault for the derail that happened. But somehow it morphed into something else. Just an...

    The Elder Scrolls Online

Well I miss FD, there's a game mechanic that could be revisited and I would love it (it doesn't matter that it was unintended, it was very cool). And there are plenty of others. But I agree, this should be taken to the EQ thread.
