These Final Hours is a great movie. You can definitely see On the Beach influences. Another good one for end of the world character dramas is I Think We're Alone Now with Peter dinklage. It's worth checking out.

It's definitely not a perfect movie by any stretch of the imagination, but it was a pretty wacky ride. And there was fly tying! You just don't see that in a movie everyday.
