    The Elder Scrolls Online

    This is where post-visual/audio feedback should come into play. They need to implement a overvolted foot warming device that you put your feet on and if you stand in the void zones too long you start to get first degree burns.

    The Video Thread

    I've never heard of him and he got me pretty good. I had to turn that shit off after the first minutes from how unbearably foolish and misguided the guy was, but then I skipped to the end and saw the game. Definitely an entertaining bit.

    Yes, I think it does. But I also think if it's successful they'll release a non-VR version soon after release and a console version too.

    Non Stop

    Does Liam Neeson start out on the plane? If so I don't see how you can make a movie out of it. Based on Star Wars, Batman and Taken it should only take a full powered and rested Liam Neeson 5 minutes to take out the bad guys. That is unless it's cold and wolves are involved.

    EVE: Valkyrie

    They've talked about many different ways to integrate it with EVE servers. I don't think they've ever talked about integration in the way you're afraid of though (replacing parts of EVE Online's combat with some kind of Valkyrie combat). I think they'll have a standalone version + an online...

    Silva was immediately rushed into surgery, which was successful. After a visit from Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta, Silva told them that he absolutely plans to return to the UFC and fight once more. Before that day comes, however, a lot of rehab is necessary. Today, we got a glimpse into...

    Virtual Reality

    It's a good thing for the Rift as long as Oculus didn't pay too much money to CCP to co-produce it. It could be a bad thing for EVE if the Rift is a failure. Though I'm sure they'll port it to monitor and consoles.
  20. Tuco

    EVE: Valkyrie

    That's pretty big news. We knew that EVE would work very well with the Rift but to make it exclusive means they can disregard all other considerations and focus the experience on the rift. Hopefully things wil come together and really set the bar for a space combat simulation with VR.

    Weather

    packed snow is much, much better than ice. The worst is when it snows and melts in the day then freezes at night and snows again. You then have snow on ice which means you don't get any meaningful traction but can also get enough resistance in poorly plowed areas to get stuck easily. We had...

    One thing I learned in minecraft: mining quartz by traversing an expansive, very random, high risk and combat heavy area (the netherworld) to mine quartz = fun. Mining diamonds by slowly cutting grids through repetitive, low risk and boring areas = boring. The goal for resource gathering...

    Don't forget the force required to escape gravity of each of the stars. Also god help you if you don't account for gravity while pulling the planets. Protip: Put the heavy planets in the back.

    It's tough to say how much creative direction he really had at ID, and you hear mixed things about him and his ideas. From what I hear he's working on an incredible difficult problem at Oculus that hasn't really been solved yet (efficient dewarping of a wide fov render), which, if he's a...

    I can't imagine how they're going to create a real combat system with manipulatable voxels. Minecraft is fun for a time but once you figure out the AI it's very simple to ruin a mob's ability to path. My favorite escape plan is to run to a wall, bust through it and close the other side. Will be...

    Sutekh's C++ +More Thread

    I don't really know what you're learning or doing with C++ but the problem I listed is actually pretty good if you're learning C++. It uses very basic constructs that any programmer will learn, is a real world problem (as in, I got paid to solve it and will get to use it on a robot tomorrow!!!)...

    Sutekh's C++ +More Thread

    So this was a very good response to the problem. There's three big things it does that are critical: 1. It uses a source-based search for finding the rotated point. Rather than iterating over the source and rotating each point to find the destination it's better to iterate over the destination...
