Here's my core question. I watched the first episode and haven't found the desire to watch any more of it so far on the DVR. Is there a cliff notes version anywhere with what I'll need in order to not miss anything vital in the MCU once it's done?

I think the three on a match trailer might be more trying to signify that she's simply fed up with both of them trying to "save" her and ready to handle her own shit. Since they both apparently were going into the house to find/save her and she locks them both in.
