SOE Live - Almost Live Thread

Updated list. @Soygen. No to EQ/EQ2. @Draegen. We'll see. @Creed. Also the game will be playable so options to figure some stuff out from playing the game and I'm a fan of vendor diving.

SOE Live - Almost Live Thread

Question List 1. Is Vendor Diving in the Game 2. Non-dyeable items (if dyes in game) 3. How is corpse looting handled? 4. Are there rechargeable items in game? 5. How are procs limited for player crafted items? 6. Can I attack NPCs 7. Will EQN copy WoW's iLevels (Tiered Loot)/Is...

SOE Live - Almost Live Thread

I'm attending SOE Live. This thread is mostly for SOE Live questions about EQN. I'll be attending most but not all of the panels (probably skipping the early one on Saturday), hopefully there will be others from rerolled also attending. If you're going post here or send me a PM with your...

I hate "starting zones" for this reason - when I said 3 zones I hoped they'd be Qeynos, Freeport and Neriak or similar. My bad for not being specific.

I'll be posting in the to-be-created SOE Live Live thread here. So sorta. But wifi internet connection will suck given the 1,000 other laptops in the room which means I'll probably be using my cellphone, so it'll be a little craptastic. Also twitchtv will be streaming.

Nah. I'm not a computer scientist but I'm pretty sure megaserver wouldn't work with 500,000 simultaneous users on a seemless world with a lot of non-instanced content. I don't care what kind of supercomputer setup SOE uses. It'll be distinct servers probably with many no longer used EQ1...

    The NSA watches you poop.

Why is it ridiculous? Our government violated the sovereignty of Bolivia to try and get Snowden. It killed a 16-year old American Citizen without a second thought. Killing a journalist about to break open a new scandal seems par for the course.
  16. tad10

    The NSA watches you poop.

    Fair enough.
  17. tad10

    EQ Never

The non-instanced content wants to "talk" with you behind the chemical sheds. Mega-servers aren't possible given that there is supposedly a bunch of non-instanced dungeons but yes servers could be very large. Also PS4 and PC would have to be on separate servers.

I'm okay with no pvp (EQ1) or with eveish pvp. But instanced battlegrounds are so.... meh and not-EQ. Not sure if it can be explained better than that. I have flunklesnarken's reaction to the idea of instanced battlegrounds. I could elaborate and jabber on about immersion and roleplaying...

    The NSA watches you poop.

Not if the big story was bigger than Snowden's leaks.
  22. tad10

    EQ Never

Got it. Okay, I'd buy a vowel and: (1) in-world guild plots but instanced player housing. (2) in-world EVEish PvP for unobtanium on Odus but instanced player created battlegrounds. (3) Player created content = LDON replacement I'll rate that as plausible.
  23. tad10

    EQ Never

I believe you're talking to a dev - as I stated earlier - you were correct about Kobolds. However, I think there's a lot of unknowns and I'm really skeptical of all the instancing claims. Housing, sure - there's some logic to it. But the instanced PvP seems a straight up WoW clone and not...

I'd give you a +1 for running eqnjunkies but sadly I can't. Also EQN is supposed to be solo-friendly (storybricks) but grouping-focused (dungeons).

@Gecko generally yes, but they said EQN is set in same time frame as EQ1 but in an alternate timeline so there maybe/will be some differences from EQ1. I'll find the quote. http://www.eqnexus.com/forums/index....ompendium.188/ links in middle of page but seems like there was more info

I like them, I just don't think they'll be in EQN. It's a lot of work for a limited return. Having three areas you can instance heavily to deal with day one loads makes more business sense, and that's got to be an overriding concern over at SOE. @etchazz hard factions are unlikely, this is...

I'd go with awesome-o as opposed to worst.

    The NSA watches you poop.

Dude it's a total "accident". It's just happenstance he wrote freaked out emails to WikiLeaks hours before and of course the NSA wouldn't be monitoring WikiLeaks emails or phones. Fuckin' conspiracy theorists.

Early AAs may be necessary/not-necessary-but-very-nice if class jumping is indeed in the game, seems like it would make class jumping more viable? Haven't thought it through really.
  33. tad10

    EQ Never

I'd bet on a minimum of 3 semi-instanced starting areas: good, bad, neutral. I'll agree there may be a single instanced tutorial area where everyone can start (or skip) to learn basics of the game that then flows into one of the above three starting areas.

  35. tad10

    EQ Never

Never played EVE but I do know it's FFA. I'm just suggesting that if EQN goes EVElike it will go EVElight with soft starting factions to limit PvP ganking in civilized areas: halflings won't be able to gank other halflings. Once you get to 0.0 it's FFA. Hopefully that makes some sense...
  36. tad10

    EQ Never

I'm not backing down from evelight prediction. Without some kind of null sec with guild warfare I don't see a next gen sandbox. Engine was built for massive battles. Gnomes have to be in as small race for neutral faction to match halflings and kobolds. For now I will take smed at his word...
  37. tad10

    EQ Never

Yes something is missing even if storybricks replaces wow questing there is no way you get to sandbox. So either flip's source is fundamentally wrong on a key aspect or smed is a bald faced liar. Both are equally plausible.
  38. tad10

Cookie-cutter player-made dungeons and picking up a class based item gives you access to that class or some similar BS. @Vegetoee yes I had my fill of it with WoW.
  39. tad10

    EQ Never

That's a huge assumption but per Carl better to wait for the Aug 2d info release - I could be concerned about something that ends being wrong, or getting cut or being such a minor part as to be easily ignorable. @Cinge fair enough

Stephane Bura is lead developer of StoryBricks, Brian Green was the Storybricks to MMO application guy IIRC. And in answer to your question, not much on the game resume that I could find, but man did he spend a lot of time on M59.
