You should go rewatch that new Frankenstein movie then, I'm sure that will peek you up...😉

I remember that magnificent film The Dark Tower where Idris Elba played Roland of Gilead, with the blue bombardier eyes, and he looked like Clint Eastwood. It was an amazing casting choice, and one of his finest roles ever.

What about the skunk man!?! I remember some kid having that God damn toy and it really did stink. I do remember watching some documentary I think on Netflix talking about the he-man toys and how they came into being along with the cartoon and everything. It was pretty good if I remember.

Did a pork butt last weekend and a combo of collards, cabbage, and black eyed peas for our late New Year's meal. Turned out pretty good, especially since I pulled some quail out of the freezer. Also don't care for spaghetti pulled pork, when it gets cooked down too much it just becomes mush...

Star Wars general purpose movie stuff

I don't necessarily care for the guy, but his crash and burn stuff has been pretty spot on. He did also think the new Frankenstein movie was amazing, so take everything with a grain of salt.

I'm talking the one lb bag of frozen tails I typically add to my seafood gumbo. Used to be 7-8 now it's like 18. I know season is coming up, and hopefully it's a decent harvest so the damn prices might be more palatable.

I haven't made jambalaya in a long time. Need to put that on the list. Already knocked out my chicken andouille gumbo recently. Wouldn't mind making seafood gumbo, but fucking crab and crawfish prices are stupid high right now.

My favorite part is when the garage was burning down and they were just standing around and then suddenly surprised that the garage is burning down. It started off okay and then just kind of went and shit the bed.

Hell yeah, the last scene specifically and the score throughout it and the end credits is phenomenal. All of Mann's earlier films were Tangerine Dream, if I'm not mistaken. Third, Manhunter and The Keep specifically. Might be another one. I still wish I could watch the full 3 hour version...

I'm normally salt and garlic pepper. Only time I may use things like soy or other liquids like red wine or Worcestershire is for marinating things like a flank steak or top sirloin if I'm slicing to serve. I don't mind different steak rubs though. My wife really likes what they season the...

It's a great movie, but Silence of the Lambs is still top tier, as well. They're both just different styles of movies. Hannibal and the other Red Dragon are both pretty good, too.

I watch enough other cooking videos, fly fishing stuff, and other hobbies or other things that it's worth it to not have to deal with ads. It's just surprising they've got a pretty good library of movies on there so why not take advantage of it.

Actually watched that for the first time a month or so ago. It's not bad but not his best. I was actually disappointed he didn't get Jan Hammer back to work on the soundtrack, but it might be because he's no longer alive, I don't know.

I've got premium, and there's a surprising amount of older movies that are really great on there. Lot of old 60s and 70s world war II movies, shit like Towering Inferno and Raise the Titanic. Just all kinds of older movies I had either hadn't seen in a long time or never seen before and it's...

I've been rewatching some Michael Mann movies, and did HEAT couple weeks ago, such a classic. Watched his first movie Thief for the first time last week and it was pretty good. Definitely tell it was sort of a prototype for HEAT.

There's literally narration from the Chinese wizard the entire film telling you what the hell is happening if you can't pick it up from the visual cues throughout all of the scenes. Did you have your TV on mute?

It's not in the same league as Conan, but for sword and sorcery, it's definitely top tier '80s goodness. The second one with Michael Ironside for The Beastmaster travels into the future is also pretty fun.

Pretty much what my thoughts were. I mean I can't imagine the whiskey is going to impart that much flavor because it's burning off. Like you said why not just flambe in a alcohol pan sauce after you've seared on the grill.

Yeah it seems counterintuitive because you're trying to dry the surface of the steak out so you get the good Browning, but maybe it's the sugars or something in the soy and the alcohol flare up from the whiskey which gets you decent Browning.

I mean if you just saw RoboCop one and two last back in 2024, I think that's all you need to know. Had a VHS recording off of HBO for the first one and I saw the second in the theater. The second was actually filmed in Houston, and my step sister got to bring home a prop part of a column...

Hell yeah. Basil Poledouris is one of my favorite movie composers. Think about all the classics he did: Conan, RoboCop, Red Dawn, Hunt for Red October, Starship Troopers, etc. Definitely one of the biggest reasons those movies are so great, and Conan was probably his best.
