I don't really know if that pamphlet helped me at all to think of it.
Nothing about patriarchy. Nothing about rape culture. Nothing about white privilege.
Remember when Feminism was about just being treated better?
Actually, that's kind of interesting that you could stack your deck such that Sense Demons always dumped those two cards into your hand. I don't think it means anything but it's still neat.
So I've been spending some time thinking about how to properly court Mist and today my prayers were answered. I came across this pamphlet for a buck. Is it the best dollar ever spent a human being in the history of mankind? We shall see.
Would you consider a 25 dollar donation in your name to be a reasonable contribution to the cause of more women in government?
edit - goddamn it, I should have put funny things in all the blanks.
This statement right here -
is that there just needs to be more women and then something something democracy.
You want more women because reasons and I want to reinstate Glass Steagall.
You get on that path by doing things like reversing Citizen's United, reinstating Glass Steagall, breaking up the banks that have become both Too Big to FailandTo Big to Jail, and if I'm really pie in the sky dreaming implement term limits on members of the House and Senate.
Your plan is more...
I'm not sure why you guys are even still bothering. Between today and yesterday it's clear as crystal that Mist's reasoning all comes from whatfeelsright and not from evidence, logical reasoning, or evidence.
And that's really the whole thing. You construct a narrative around a made up...
I voted for Tammy Baldwin in the last election based solely on my dislike for the negative ads that were run against her and with no knowledge of her policies or history and she became the first openly gay senator ever.
Tammy Baldwin wins in Wisconsin as voters elect first openly gay senator...
You are always letting them divide you on the wrong fucking thing. How about a Senate and House that isn't almost entirely filled with incumbent lawyer politicians?
What I remember most was what the talking heads on CNN had to say afterwards. No one was willing to say she was terrible. There was light talk about how maybe the jury didn't connect with such an urban young woman. There was one that called Rachel's testimony a home run, that it forced Zimmerman...
I don't know how accurate this is but I've heard some of the most crazily abusive relationships are those with two women. If you get a domestic abuse call as a police officer and it's two women you are going to fucking stabbed. Guaranteed.
Mist, I'm done talking to you about your feelings and the narratives you've been told. You come back with some numbers.
Oh wait, it's fine men aren't going into a workplace hostile to them (good use of the word scared, must be man's fault they aren't pursuing careers where they are not wanted...
Cad, allow me.
"All I was trying to say is that whites inherit most of their wealth. I wasn't talking about recent trends. It was a throwaway line about privilege and not something to be taken apart."
And then you say, "no, whites don't inherit MOST of their wealth."
No, it isn't "approaching the levels it used to be." You find data to support that claim. When did it "used to be." Not in the last half century, that's for fucking sure.
Men aren't going into teaching because it's a field increasingly hostile to them. Hell, I'll go one step further. Society...
Hey man, I'm just saying what I'm feeling. Don't go all up in here with these facts and figures.
There are not more male teachers now. Men were the majority in the 1880s, there was a bunch of money spent on education during the Great Depression that lead to a resurgence of males in education...
You said a bunch of wrong shit. It's how things go sometimes.
And it's not a 40 year low. It's at least 46 year low. There was a further decline from 2006 to 2012.
You mean we hit a 40 year low the year before the economy went to shit? 2006?
Wait, what else did Mist say? 150 years ago there were less male teachers than now. So in 1864 it was female dominated. Wait, fuck. That is also not true. Well fuck.
edit - aw shit son, no you didn't
NEA -...
Dan Brown: Why So Few Male Teachers Today? Does it Matter?
I think you seriously underestimate how hostile things have been getting for your male counterparts.
I seriously question your knowledge of societal employment trends going back to the 1800s.
I also really doubt that it's the economy's fault that there are less male teachers.
I was in a teacher's education program for a while in school and was told numerous times that less and less men were choosing to become teachers and that they are leaving the profession in droves. I don't have any stats or anything but I've never heard good things regarding trends and male teachers.
I would have been expelled for sure for some of the dumb shit I did in grade school were I student now instead of then. All it would have taken would have been getting caught with one picture I'd drawn of a lactating boob monster and I'd have been out the door.
Thinking about it I was a very...
I haven't had many conversations with that Gavinrad fellow but I like the cut of his gib.
Tanoomba, have you considered maybe going down the path of shutting the fuck up because the conversation has moved on and no one has time to spend on your or your shit?
Boy, I can't wait to share in the debt of another person and then when they decide they aren't happy (and that's all that matters, if you are happy) takes half of my assets while demanding a monthly check. If there are children I will not get custody of them and I will not get to make decisions...
Oh, I'm sorry. Am I repeating the same thing regardless of what anyone else says?
If you don't like it know think of how much you'll like it by next Thursday.
So glad you asked.
