I think it's just bouncing people. You can "log in" but it gives you an error 10102 immediately and throws you back into queue.

It's funny, the last time I tried logging in, it said JP servers couldn't be loaded. I still couldn't actually log onto Gilg, but at least the japs had it worse for once!

GP is a gathering bar, kind of like mana, that you use for gathering skills. You're limited to what your bar is per attempt. So increasing it yields many more attempts to either increase HQ chance or gather an item. Edit: Changed that, cause it's CP for crafting, GP for gathering.

Probably. I missed out on quite a few FATEs on my 2nd and 3rd (and 4th and 5th) classes because I couldn't run there fast enough. If I'd had a chocobo though, it would've increased my leveling speed significantly. Same for getting to class quests, hunting logs, first runs to dungeons, etc...
