i've had great success w/ incense and walking around town lake, at least 1 dratini each time. but that stretch typically is just full of magicarps, ducks and slowpokes. when i used one walking around london, got nothing but rats and piggies.

transfer for the candies, just don't evolve is my advice.

re: are some spots rare-spawns and others common? i *think* so. there's 1 spawn across the neighborhood that's been dratini, magicarp, few other rares, while most of the neighborhood is your typical rat, birds and eeves.
