Eh. Once you start pick and choosing your tedium you are screwed. Eventually people will bitch about whatever tedium remains in the game and developers will cave.
Things shouldn't be eliminated because they are tedious (book in face) but because they're unbalancing and (book in face opens...
You don't want "unnecessary tedium" which you don't define and which runs counter to your earlier "some tedium" comment. Your post is unclear and farty at both ends. But whatever I think you were the first to realize Pantheon will be vanilla WoW so you are still a winner in my book in the face.
High level wizards can cast a port spell on a predetermined town artifact. Allowing port to a certain location for x hours before needing to be recast or similar temporary passive port functionality.
Hilarity ensures when a newbie ports out to what he thinks is a newbie jungle but is...
lol. Action combat is a hard pass for me usually. Eqn may be the only exception because I want to check out storybricks.
Apparently the Japanese version of archage is the tits. Seems like Trion should just copy their changes.
Anyway, I think Trion has cash flow issues since defiance...
Yes ocean is open pvp, as I understand. Oloh will correct me if I'm wrong. I'm sure
So intercontinental ocean trading is subject to piracy. Not sure if intra-continental trading is the same.
People scream for better AI all the time and go off on how they hate trinity combat. The trinity system was a compromise between player ability and coding an ai players could deal with while still being fun.
Apparently so, but the trade route changes in 1.0 made pirating more difficult or something - something about routes are shorter or wtf. Hard to decipher complaining about a game I haven't actually played ;-)
I was disappointed when I found out the dungeons would be instanced, I'm meh on rng crafting and non-pirate pvp but otherwise seems worth checking out and the ship combat looked pretty sweet imho. Surprised you are so down on it.
I don't think moba to mmo is a good comparison. Buying a champion is not equivalent to buying a mount or XP pot. This where Dumar and I agree, everything that has an actual in game effect should only be obtainable in game. I don't like pure cosmetics, but can live with them. Anything else is...
I'm the first to agree that strong ips can get money from cash shops, but with the exception of tor (which agree would likely have been shutdown) I'm not sure if I agree with the extended lifespan thesis. Lotr had core players that were around before and after the ftp transition. From the sub...
But that shit is not sustainable. The 15/month is.
Sure Turbine printed money initially when lotr went ftp but now they're struggling. The idiots who want flames out of their horses ass have ADD and will be off to the next big thing as soon as it hits.
Who cares about Korean monetization. Here the ftp crowd is awful - full of entitled assholes that typify the give me now mentality that is cancer to mmorpgs. Loved reading the idiot on MMORPG who posted about how evil developers are to sell a 60.00 box plus one month subscription instead of...
Speaking as a non-pvper (I quite Emerald Dream when I was unable to complete my blasted lands quest chain because some goon rogue 4 levels above me sat and camped the area for two days and the horde/alliance imbalance suggested that that problem was only going to get worse) the problem isn't PvP...
Yeah I can live with cosmetics, though I don't really like them.
Also, @Hartsman, as someone else said, you should sell alpha access - all the cool people are doing it, and frankly I usually have more fun in betas than live these days.
This is a really good point - there are millions of people who played WoW who never heard of OT/DT combat, never tried a VG class, and don't know that there really is a better way to do tab targeted combat (besides abandoning it for "actiony" combat).
It seems like the 1.0 class changes addressed the stunlock issue you brought up - the AAS folks were fine with the class changes. But this reminds me of another issue I didn't mention, AAS also flipped out that as part of putting in dailies XL Games created a non-PvP area on the North...
