Disney has massive cash reserves ($13B atm with access to more) and some of the most resilient IP in the entertainment industry. It's fun to have some schadenfreude over their pain, but Disney collapsing likely means capitalism as we know it has collapsed. They'll be one of the last ones standing.

Two reasons for me. First, there was real loss and sacrifice with the protagonists, which is something Disney movies in particular usually like to avoid. I liked that there was tension knowing shit would probably end badly. Second, it contained the single purest Star Wars sequence since the OT:

No actor or actress can salvage a horrible script and terrible writing. Portman was also unwatchable as Padme, but pretty amazing in Black Swan (think that's where she won her Oscar?) and V for Vendetta. I'm looking forward to see what Waititi can do with this. The comic was decent.

It was the opposite for me - expected a decent movie, thought it was garbage. It was just a weird mixture of almost-funny, not-badass, not-cute etc. I know the cheese is intentional, but unlike Aquaman (which I recognize as just bad film but I genuinely enjoyed), I couldn't get into this. Oh well.
