I wanna say he changed it post AI, it has to be a conversation with a local and it has to be a movie. But I don't recall entirely.

Arrive at Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG), the main international airport in the Czech Republic.

Rent a car at the airport and drive about 1 hour 30 minutes west to Úterý. The town is small (about 400 people) and has no railway service, so a car is by far the most convenient option.

That seems a little extreme to get into a game's alpha test... but then again, you could also investigate what these people are trying to do to this 1000+ pound log while you are there:

bet they have a good pub

grass looks nice but notice the lack of animals and people in it. it’s probably full of leeches and mosquitoes. never trust grass

After looking this over I don't see why anyone would play M&M over this. It's clearly a better old school EQ copy (and more interesting graphics).

MnM graphics do indeed suck, but I think the one thing that will keep people away from this is the graphics.

You either like it or you don't. And if you don't, you're not even going to touch this.

Even watching the trailer on the website gives me more old school EQ feelings than any other wannabe MMO in the works currently. The music is 100% old school EQ.

I mean, I agree the gameplay is definitely fun.

It's the big difference between the two games to me. MnM I feel like the game is actively fighting me, adding tedium wherever possible. Any fun I have is basically in spite of the game, not because of it. AoA is fun because they removed all the jank and just made sure the game itself is enjoyable.

It's sad but true.

During the open a bit ago we had someone create an account, log in and then in 30 seconds they were like "naah, these graphics hurt my eyes" which is comical beyond comical...but is what it is.

I thought 20 years of WoW would have opened people up to this but damn people really still get hung up on graphics alone. I mean I could see if we were talking some hyper weeb simulator with questionably aged looking characters or something weird but we aren't...we are talking graphics akin to Minecraft with additional flair that will likely get better as the game progresses into later stages of development.

You guys trying to convince yourselves Minecraft graphics are “good” or even ok reminds me of back in College when people would try to convince you PBR was a good beer

The two games that defined my childhood were EQ and Half-Life. My brain just cannot pretend that a game being made in 2026 with worse graphics than either of those is somehow acceptable.

On a superficial level I'd agree with you, but graphics don't even remotely correlate with "fun." I've got more hours in Terraria than any other game. In fact, the games I typically find the most fun resorted to more basic graphics almost across the board.

Basically any AAA game nowadays focuses heavily on graphics and the gameplay just doesn't compensate for it.

Yeah that’s fine and look I’m not shitting on you guys for liking it just explaing why some don’t. I can’t suspend disbelief for my elf simulator when the elfs look objectively worse than a game I played in middle school. It’s a shame too because this game sees way better than MnM
