Besides the sub and battle passes + cosmetics (I'm fine with all of these as a way to monetize), how bad is the p2w?

Sad but true. I sadly buy into things like inventory space or weight, because i despise inventory management in any game(and mod it out completely if I can) with a costume here and there. But never did understand paying to basically finish the game faster, as gear progression is all there really is in these games.

You can buy Kinah (gold) directly from the shop in Asia, which makes any attempt to defend the P2W stupid. Remains to be seen what we get in NA.

Its entirely possible to play this F2P and have fun. Its entirely possible to play this with the battle passes and subs and you can be competitive (I define this as clearing all PVE content as it releases and being in the top 1% for PVP). Its also entirely possible to spend 50k real life money and be significantly ahead of everyone, clearly have less skill but still mop the floor with people who play 4 hours a day (e.g. a lot for most people) because your wallet is better than them.

The same could be said for Diablo Immortal. Up until 2-3 months in.

P2W tends to ramp up over time, rather than be something that can immediately be felt impacting the game experience.

This game has a 2 month shelf life before it's completely unplayable.

I don't disagree, I have been rather direct in this thread that I don't see this lasting very long in the West (hot take, I know). I think we will see the vast majority quit after one month but there is enough here and lack of alternative MMO options that some will likely play this for a lot longer.

Yeah, anyone who would play this game would be playing Aion 1, it's essentially the same game, right down to the sound effects. And I just don't get these asian devs obsession with the systems bloat. All the extra skill boards, and pets and cards and pantheon...ugh. There's just nothing interesting or exciting about this game. Oh, you can fly, until your flight time runs out, unless you wanna chug a potion. I do like the skill and stigma system, it's just too bad the PVE is boring as fuck.

So, yeah, initial massive launch as usual, since there's nothing else, and then dead a few months later.

I like the initial MMO rush as we all figure stuff out. I'll probably play this for a few weeks, like I did Blue Protocol (yeah yeah :p ). I'm easily amused I guess.

I remember having fun in the original Aion, but Koreans loved their CC in PvP, I seem to recall being stunned for like 20 seconds in mass PvP while we all had models turned off and were just icons fighting each other lol.

But that Aion 2 video of the P2Win dude just face tanking 20 players has me concerned.
