The fact that your entire rotation can be macroed into a 1 button spam key makes this DOA for me. Combat is going to be a snore fest - Korean games are notoriously grindy so the only thing that saves the good ones is a great combat system (Lost Ark, BDO).
Without that, it's just a boring P2W fest.
I will probably do this launch, not sure i want to do a pack or not, for the 5 days. Maybe the basic bitch pack just for the month sub + 5 day start. I assume things in tthe $100 pack like the wings have +flight time and the pet some kind of buff.
No clue what to play, i did a chanter months go for a little bit, because the buffs for group sounds fun(like a bard). But tempted to try a archer.
I don’t understand (South) Koreans. Like , you’re the fucking west now. You can take risks, be creative, try something new. But you act like fucking china, just copying each other to no end. The same grindy upgrade mechanic for over two decades of MMOs. Is it genetic? Break some fucking eggs you Faulty Armors
I tend to buy the deluxe packs for new mmo's. But usually the mounts, etc. have some sort of perk. I don't understand these AION 2 packs. Outside of the monthly sub and the headstart, the extras are just not that good. The cosmetics are ok, but they're not exclusive and there seems to be better. And the cosmetics/pets/mounts you get in world has stats from what I understand. The other stuff in these packs give a bit of QoL, but unless I'm missing something it's nothing great. No advantage for the wings/pet.

Different. Definitely not BDO. Sounds like learning the encounter becomes a bit more important.

Yes, we're launching with S1 content but with a large number of QOLs implemented. This means that the additional class (Brawler) will not be available. This is pretty typical of Korean MMOs, where class releases are treated as content. I would assume we are only going to get it when they increase the level cap to 50 (or just before) with the traditional Korean boost/catch up.Wasn't it said someplace that the 9th class that this dude is showing won't be avaliable at launch?![]()

I haven't really been keeping up to date on everything but when I do read up on things, I'm pretty disappointed as a lot of the decision making seems to be fucking retarded. The Large one that frustrates me is that they had implemented a change in the KR version that made alts mostly unable to significantly increase the progress of your main. From what I've been reading, this will not be part of our launch, which means that having 4 alts to feed into your main will be insanely beneficial; this type of shit will drive people away in the West and there's simply no reason for it apart from the fact that they are worried that S1 content won't be sufficient for the hardcore players/streamers.
Some of us like playing an alt or two and prefer not having a retarded artificial restriction on sharing gains between characters.Playing alts specifically to feed your main is something only min-maxers/powergamers do and doesn't affect the average player.
There's also the fact that feeling like spending time playing an alt is negatively impacting your progression on your main will cause people to play alts less. Alts are free content (and potentially more sales for things that are character only <which is also dumb>) and keep people playing longer...
Edit: And, while this game isn't hard trinity based (but seems to want to move in that direction) more alts means more tanks/healers available.
I agree with your premise but it's naive and doesn't reflect the reality of the impact that it's going to have. As someone who was going to have multiple alts regardless because I have a lot of time available in early October, this benefits me, I've just seen this song & dance before and know what is going to happen.
Prediction: Streamers will push the narrative that in order to be competitive, you're required to have 4 alts and play the game like it's a job. This concept will gain traction and be used by folks to say that the game is standard Asian MMO trash.
First of all, let's not kid ourselves, this game IS standard Asian MMO trash, lol. I'm sure we'll have plenty discussions on that topic as we play.I recently got laid off when the restaurant I was working at went under, so I'll have plenty of time in October as well, as I temporarily suck on the governments teat for a much needed vacation.
Anyone who does something because a streamer says so is a retard. People are going to say the game is trash anyway. Much of that whining is performative these days. If someone plays a bunch of alts just to progress at a certain speed, and they don't find that enjoyable, how the fuck is that my problem?? Streamers are still gonna say "you gotta do this every day, and this every week, and do this, and do that, and use this build, and make sure your monitor is facing east etc etc etc etc etc" They literally make up shit to say just to be able to make more vids. It's nauseating.
The game already has a dozen different grinds in it, what's one more? You're overlooking the fact that the reason "having" to play alts is such a pain (for some) is because the game has too many systems to grind for. That's the real issue.
I used alts to make extra gold in Lost Ark because it was an efficient way for me to progress at the speed I wanted. I never gave two fucks about what anyone else was doing or compared my progression to theirs. When it started to feel more like work than fun I stopped doing it. One of the drawbacks of being a sane adult.
TLDR: This game will be dead in the West by the end of the year, whichever choice they make. I'll put money on this.
You forgot to mention that those same streamers will P2W like hell, and use the "alts are good" narrative to counter their p2w.I agree with your premise but it's naive and doesn't reflect the reality of the impact that it's going to have.
