Add me to the list of those who really didn't like the book. Got about 2/3 of the way through and then just stopped when I realized I didn't care about any of the characters or story. It was becoming just a slog.

Probably going to give the show a shot since the premise isn't bad necessarily.

The episode tonight is really, really, really gay. Going to be great.

The djinn scene was too much wasted screen time for a side-story that ultimately means absolutely nothing, but otherwise the show continues to be pretty great.

Pretty sure all these characters will be expanded upon once they get where they're going. This was already the second time we saw the jinn.

I too tried to read the book. I lost interest in it like 1/4 the way through.

The show is keeping my interested, but this last episode was too fucking gay.

It was overdone. The repeated cuck hand-touching over and over again, the lingering shots. The huge 20 inch dick. Too much. Expect a loss in viewership next week.

Just not a good idea to get THAT homoerotic. Game of Thrones was very wise to start phasing out the gratuitous gay stuff prior to last season, and the GoT stuff was very mild and well-tolerated by everyone. So I still credit D&D for having the nerve to say "how about a little less in 2015-2016", which became "how about none".

Beyond that they're definitely slow boiling this thing with lore building. Which, as someone who hasn't read the book, is working for me so far. But I can see how some might be starting to get restless.

The book was a slow boil too, almost to the point of meandering. I asked what is the point out loud a bunch of times. I thought the premise and the lore were really cool, but the actual plot was almost non existent in major chunks. I watched the first episode and it followed the book pretty faithfully, but the wife noped the hell out, as it was just too weird and over the top violent for her, and I haven't had time to watch online. I want to watch the show because I think the visual medium will help the pacing, so I will catch up at one point or the other.

Still digging it.

The way they presented it, it looks like he basically transferred himself into the salesman guy while they were having sex, so the salesman guy is no more and now it is just the djinn.

To be clear, that is the gayest the book ever got.

Although if you think it's slow now, just wait until Shadow is chilling out in Northern Wisconsin for two or three episodes.

Hell, I'll put it this way: while I liked AG, I only read it once. Anansi Boys I've gone through three times.

He doesn't take over his body, he just swapped identities with him. The sales kid hated what he was doing and wanted out, so he gets to be a cab driver now and is happier for it.

Djinn gets a nice suit and a new official identify to try and do bigger and better things than driving a cab with.
