I've read the thread, found the crafting/map link, iron ore is only used for Iron Pickaxe is kinda weird, unless that list is super incomplete
It isn't. Crafting is an afterthought in this game and not used for much that's important (which is good, as crafting in RPGs is for mega fags and weebs).

After having the Spirit of the Forest drop the SAME items three times in a row, it dropped about 6 items in the 5th kill with the hide. I guess that tracks with the 20% drop rate.

FINALLY.

Yeah, like Kirun said, crafting is pretty supplemental, like cooking food, making potions and scrolls for buffs and useful spells. Items are pretty exclusively farmed off mobs. I think each class probably gets a quest line to make a single item; dwarf warrior was a crown that ended abruptly and was replaced by a loot drop pretty quickly thereafter.

The pick axe upgrades just increase the durability used per mining. Most of the mining is for adventurer quests.

The crown that the Dwarf king gives you is part the longest quest line in the game (not that you use the crown again, from the looks of it). After the crown, you go to the Twisted Haunt, then Krom Raz, then the Water Alter event, then Vault. There doesn't seem to be anything else close to it, in the game yet. Many of the quests seem to be works in progress. You can see it in the imbalance in class quests especially, where the warrior has 10 class quests and the rogue/ranger/druid have 2.

Man, this game plateaus at a very specific point as mentioned - Morwyn and Hrimsorr. Everything else is easy and on farm. That jump in challenge is jarring.

Currently 94 veteran points, and not a lot of points that will make either of those two fights easier.

I suppose at 166 hours in, that is pretty good time value for the money.

If anyone has any suggestions on either of those fights, let me know.
