I've read the thread, found the crafting/map link, iron ore is only used for Iron Pickaxe is kinda weird, unless that list is super incomplete
It isn't. Crafting is an afterthought in this game and not used for much that's important (which is good, as crafting in RPGs is for mega fags and weebs).

After having the Spirit of the Forest drop the SAME items three times in a row, it dropped about 6 items in the 5th kill with the hide. I guess that tracks with the 20% drop rate.

FINALLY.

Yeah, like Kirun said, crafting is pretty supplemental, like cooking food, making potions and scrolls for buffs and useful spells. Items are pretty exclusively farmed off mobs. I think each class probably gets a quest line to make a single item; dwarf warrior was a crown that ended abruptly and was replaced by a loot drop pretty quickly thereafter.

The pick axe upgrades just increase the durability used per mining. Most of the mining is for adventurer quests.

The crown that the Dwarf king gives you is part the longest quest line in the game (not that you use the crown again, from the looks of it). After the crown, you go to the Twisted Haunt, then Krom Raz, then the Water Alter event, then Vault. There doesn't seem to be anything else close to it, in the game yet. Many of the quests seem to be works in progress. You can see it in the imbalance in class quests especially, where the warrior has 10 class quests and the rogue/ranger/druid have 2.

Man, this game plateaus at a very specific point as mentioned - Morwyn and Hrimsorr. Everything else is easy and on farm. That jump in challenge is jarring.

Currently 94 veteran points, and not a lot of points that will make either of those two fights easier.

I suppose at 166 hours in, that is pretty good time value for the money.

If anyone has any suggestions on either of those fights, let me know.

Well, lost my save file. Started the game on my HTPC and it pushed that save file into the steam cloud, overwriting the save file on my main computer. There was some funkiness previously when launching between different computers (logged out in a city (HTPC) but loaded in somewhere in the middle of a zone (on main PC), but level/gear was the same the time and I didn't think too much about it.

I didn't have nearly as much time into this as most of you, but enough that I have no interest in restarting right now. Maybe I'll get off my ass and implement per hour snapshots so this type of thing doesn't happen again (Linux so no default file versioning).

The upgrades to the altar event item drops are significant from epic to legendary once you hit VT 100+:

Been farting around in the Northern Wastes doing a quest line there to get into a dungeon I think? The Northern Gate Guard in Winterforge refuses to drop legs for anyone except my druid. I dipped my toe into Molten Sanctuary - yeah need more fire resist. It's not bad, but if you pull a big group the damage is spiky and if you don't taunt well enough your team dies FAST. Same thing happens in Northern Wastes with the Wyverns.

I think I will try Morwyn tonight just to make me quit again lol. Edit - Yeah, got her to 70 k hps, but the room respawned 3 times. The mana drain is what is getting me. Will try with mana potions and see how it goes. Nope, went ever worse. What a retarded fight.

Got moonlight working so got AK to try it out. I don’t know what it is but this game is absolutely perfect for a chill couch gaming session. I’ve only put 2 hours in but am just loving everything about it so far. It’s a little funky trying to play on a controller, so thinking I might need to get a wireless kb/m for the tv. Do any of you play successfully on a controller?

I only got to about L40 before deciding I couldn't deal with how user-unfriendly the game is compared to Erenshor, but I played a wizard with controller just fine up to that point. Not sure if it'd be more of a pain if you're trying to be the healer or tank. The things that annoyed me most (inv. management, getting companions to do what I wanted them to, etc.) weren't a whole lot better when I tried m/k either.

This was before the recent patch that was all about improving controller functionality so I assume it's better now too.

Controller is ok once I figured out how to load community layouts instead of the default. Right stick for mouse cursor moves way too slowly and the face buttons only seem to fire hotbar skip 1 and 4 for some reason and when I try to remap keys manually it messes everything up badly. Not a big deal since my ranger is only 15 and has 3 skills to use, but eventually that will become a big problem I assume.

When i was playing this game I played it mostly on controller. It works but it is limited compared to kb mouse. They revamped controlls so it is a little better, but its still not great. Id say controller wise what is there is pretty half baked imo.

Can this game not render in its max resolution setting of 3840 × 2160 in HD mode or is it maybe a limitation of Moonlight? My tv native resolution is that, and I can play the game with that setting from the settings menu, but when I toggle on HD mode the UI fills the tv screen to the edges just fine but the actual game screen stays smaller and centers itself on the tv with big black space all around it where the UI moves to. It’s fine in 3840 × 2160 without HD mode, but it’s sort of zoomed in enough that I sometimes get in aggro range of mobs before they appear on screen.

HD mode shrinks the gameplay area like you said. What you’re seeing is how it works.
