I fully realize this may be the LAST good Star Wars we get for some time. Tony Gilroy had to fight tooth and nail to get the $$ to finish the story in season 2. I would hope the quality of the end product would get Disney to commit more to serious storytelling... but that doesn't seem to be in the cards.

All that said, I will say that as a 'normie' Star Wars fan that has only watched the movies, I've always been bothered by the fact that all the advanced technology seems to be packaged in 1960s/70s hardware. Can any of you super fans explain this?

The obvious explanation is that the original movie was made in the seventies when Atari-level graphics and CRTs were state of the art, and since the show is set in that time period they are simply adhering to the same aesthetics.

I forgot to post why I had originally come to the thread.

S2 of Andor is some of the best SW content that has been filmed in the last 20 years. Probably longer.

It has its issues, but it's very, very good.
I still think the first three episodes could have been cleaned up a lot. It really did meander, but got damn did this show get its feet under it starting with episode 4. Everything since has been pure cinema. Best Star Wars content since andor season 1. If everything Disney put out was half this good I might stop pirating their shit.

Last three have been as good as the prison arc, which is saying something. The whole “I can’t swim” was probably one of the biggest punch lines at the end of a show ever.

I think the Andor stuck on Yavin episode needed something that we got later. In that episode the Rebels were so disorganized and amateur a pile of em got stuck on a deserted planet cause their commander ran off. Then like 2 years later they have a serious professional army and the point was to show the growth. Like its fine but they could have showed it differently and had Andor doing a cool thing where he was evading Star Destroyers and ambushing squadrons in this next gen Tie.

Maybe it was an idea and it was too expensive. Who knows. I've loved all of it and I am not going to criticize too hard but I get where you are coming from. That arc did need something where the Empire was starting their boot stomp with some Facism lite before it ended on the Ghormans, or an exciting Cassian episode.

Those Maya Pei rebels had nothing to do with Yavin becoming the Rebel base, if I take your meaning. I don't think there was any growth there. They all probably died off since they had no idea how to actually survive there, hence Cassian telling them to bank water and them having no rations. The Rebellion established on Yavin 4 two years later has nothing to do with them.

I really hope the last 3 pay off as much. I have not actually been eager to watch a show like this since the series "Dark". If the last 3 are as good as the recent 3, I might buy this series in Steel Book. It will be the last great Star Wars material we get for a long time.

No I mean the state of the Rebellion in the first arc could be seen via the sorry state of those Rebels. Then last arc we see Yavin again and its a professional army cause the rebellion is way more serious and organized.

I agree with about showing growth of the rebellion. I was really hoping we'd see some pivotal nations/factions joining in. Especially the navy they get and the explanation of all the wing fighters. There a a time skip so there's hope that it can still be told. It's understandable that they didn't want to focus on it as the show IS called Andor. I'm just the tiniest bit disappointed but definitely don't take points away for it.

I was hoping they would show the rebellion on how they get their fleets of xwings and capital ships. Maybe that's these last 3 episodes tonight.

I don't think these last three episodes will be as memorable because there frankly isn't much that _has to_ wrap up - sure, we all would like Luthen's backstory (secret Jedi? Dead Jedi kid? Dead Jedi wife?) or see why Saw just gave up in Rogue One, but Wilmon's or Vel's fates aren't going to recontextualize all Star Wars content ever released.

I am hoping we don't get a final shot of Bix and Andor's kid, and I am hoping Patargaz and Dedra don't get promotions to the Death Star, just because those are predictable, boring choices, but beyond that, anything goes in my opinion.

Rebels already showed an episode where they steal a squadron of Y-wings set to be scrapped because they are phased out models. Those specifically went to Dodonna at Yavin. They have already commented how Saw's faction is more flush with cash and thus has better equipment and ships than other groups. Rogue One itself shows how most of the rebel ships are aligned with their particular leaders and generals so until a planet or faction joins up at Yavin they wouldn't be involved at all.

Dantooine was also the base before Yavin and we didn't get to see it, Leia outted the planet since she knew it was no longer in use. One of the first novels released under Disney's tenure was about one of the TIE pilots who investigated and saw that the abandoned rebel base was far better organized and equipped than the Empire expected. So by extension Yavin should be a step up and that's before the influx of support following Ghorman.

I have not watched Andor S1, was going to start once this S2 started- but then the main character cried about Trump and injected that bull into things... then the "oh my rape!! ohh" nonsense, so I wrote it off.

I still, sorry not sorry; like Rouge 1 and put it as one of the best films.

Then you post that drinker video... /sigh

Fuck what people think politically. Do not let that be the thing that makes you miss a good show. Its called acting. I pretty much do not give a shit about what actors do when not working.

If you really cared about an artist's political views and/or their inability to stfu, there would be very little art for you to appreciate.

Drinker is a bloviating moron, try to not to use him as anything but the most generic of bellwethers.

Drinker is a contrarian retard? Haven’t watched his stuff on this show, but I’ve never gotten that vibe from him. He seems more a normie soft liberal who dislikes the woke agenda ruining movies. I find his takes on movies generally pretty reasonable.

Manlet main actor is a retard, but he’s always been a vehicle for the show going on around him. The strong performances of the supporting actors are what sell this show.

Go way back in this thread and you’ll see I said the same thing about him S1. Don’t miss out on this show cause he’s a fuckwit.

I engage in very, very little "modern media" entertainment. Heck the last games I played were Wild Arms 1 PSX and now Lunar 1/2 Remastered - and I just got a new PSP battery to replay Lunar SS-Harmony to compare vs remaster. Classic WOW (PVP!) and EQ and P99 were my last real MMO games. Movies? ... I cant remeber the "latest" movie I watched or TV show.. the Frasier reboot/restart... ummm... I am re-watching Marco Polo.

You all are actually quite entertaining ;-) so there is that.
