You had:
-The Rebellion at war with itself and noone working together and trusting anyone outside of their group
-What would become the main thrust of the Rebellion (the common solider), being untrained and incapable of providing any renaissance to the Empire
-People willing to bail on the rebellion.. Even the factions brother abandoned them to die.
-Yaven being fleshed out. Dangerous wildlife, awful weather, no natural food sources. It being uninhabited and such a backwater that it was a perfect spot for a base.
-Andor starting to become a leader. Suggesting ideas to the rebels holding him hostage that were all perfecting good ideas and would help them survive.
-Showing the skill Andor had as a pilot. Even if the rebels got the Avenger working they could never fly it.
-How unequipped in retrospect Luthen was with missions. They ahd no real backup if Cassians contact was killed, no backup plan, just radio silence and unsure what to do. They were supposed to be the prepared ones.

Did it need to be as long as it was? Probably not but they wanted one story line per character and it wasn't really an Andor arc. Is was the big inhale before the storm.

Maybe the first few episodes were filmed before they found out they were getting canned and needed to condense the plot immediately.

I kinda like the idea Yavin was run by a bunch of stranded chuckleheads that eventually grew into a well managed rebellion HQ. There's an interesting backstory there. I don't necessarily want to know what that backstory is - we don't need everything spelled out for us - but it's an interesting detail

They didnt film anything under the 5 season plan. After the first season was done Gilroy had panicked and realized that even if they could justify the cost, write interesting stories and keep the audience on board it would have taken 10 years total or so to completly do it all since they film in the real world. It would have been Gilroys potentially alst project and Luna was worried about aging that much. Hell Stellan Skarsgard is 73 today, 8 years from now he may not even be around.

This worked out better for everyone I think. Maybe they do a different Star Wars show instead or his own film. But the 5 season plan was what was pitched in 2017, a lot changed.

who's saying it's rushed? I'm saying so far having watched 6 episodes that the first 3 didn't need to exist, that's the opposite of rushed. it drags on with needless filler.

uh what? I didn't learn any of this in episodes 1-3. Pretty much everything on this list happened in episode 4, predominantly more so through ep 6.

Here's what happened in ep 1-3.
Andor steals a Tie fighter and spends 3 episodes dicking around with a bunch of incompetent bandits from snow white
Mon Mothra's daughter gets married and there's a dance party
Bix and crew are hiding out on a farm world there's a real world political illegal immigrant analogue tie in forced upon us along with muhh rapeeee.

-Andor steals the prototype TIE Avenger, which is the same line as Vader's TIE. Its a hero ship and its inclusion was awesome and it kicked ass.
-Andor Lands back on Yavin which is uninhabited, no Rebel base, a total backwater which SHOWS the current state of the Rebellion.
-Dangerous animals, local food that was deemed inedible, poor weather, all challenges the Rebellion would have to overcome to use it as a base
-Andor deals with a Rebellion group that is inept, unskilled, squabbling, they dont even trust eachother which SHOWS the current state of the Rebellion
-Andor showing his skills as a soldier and leader by suggesting tactics, rationing, water supply etc which SHOWS his growth since season 1
-Andor not giving a fuck about Imperial ship tech nor her boss. They are both either dead or imprisoned forever after he steals it and plays her like a chump.
-Andor dealing with Luthen not being able to plan for everything SHOWING his ability to "Make his own luck"

Meanwhile you have
-Chandrila.... Wedding Customs, Music, Fashion, History of marriages (the knife ceremony), wealth, internal politics, and planetary history
-Imperial day time shows for women like "The View", Imperial news, Tourism videos, Ghorman opera (what Deadra was listening to), Casual upper middle class fashion
-Imperial immigration policy in Tarkin's Governance, how the Empire feeds its populace, lack of Imperial soldier discipline the further from the core you go
-Imperial adaptation of Rebel tactics to use as a blunt instrument for oppression
-Imperial propaganda, spin doctors, media manipulation to control the narrative in the core worlds

I could go on. Anyone who uses the "muh rape scene" in this show should just be blocked. Grow the fuck up. That shit would have happened 11/10 times. The dumbest part is there was no rape, she got the living shit kicked out of her. Who knew some low level fuckstick with an ounce of power would use it over someone who had none and wanted to take advantage of that. But you are right in a series filled with genocide (Alderaan), Vader force choking a pregnant Padme (episode 3), child trafficking (Mando), child murder (episode 3), child experimentation (Mando, Rebels), child slavery (episode 1), child death screams used as a means of torture (Andor), random torture (all of Star Wars), Stormtroopers using a flamethrower on random civilians (Episode 4), Vader torturing his own daughter (thanks force I guess?), prisons on fake sentences with no hope of release (Andor), Madalore (a fucking CGI cartoon), Imperial sterilization of the Geonosians (CGI cartoon), destruction of Jediah, etc that sexual assault is the main no no screams man child.

If you watched this shit while taking a nap I would understand your comments. Was it the best arc in the 8 arc series? Nope. Was it bad? Fuck you.

It's ok to like Andor and still acknowledge the first 3 episodes of season 2 of Andor are fucking retarded useless filler, there is no need to make up stories to defend it.

Now that i'm further along in season 2 i feel even more confident in stating you can skip the first 3 episodes of this season and miss absolutely nothing. They are largely self contained stories, there's a 1 year time jump between each arc and nothing actually happens in the first arc so you aren't missing anything.

Andor is great, season 1 was good with consecutive story arcs that build upon each other. Season 2 is different. Each story arc is more independent, more self contained. They all start 1 year later than the previous one so that we can skip forward up to rogue one. 4-6 is great, 7-9 is pretty incredible tbh, love seeing a cold calculated empire rather than some cartoonish evil that blunders its way through plot lines making you wonder how they were ever able to take over the galaxy.

1-3 is pointless filler, skip it, nothing happens. It's simple, if you haven't watched this season yet, start out on episode 4. You miss absolutely nothing in the first 3 episodes.

welp I just finished season 2 and I was correct. Ep 1-3 was absolute unnecessary filler, there was no essential world building based it, there was no build up, no payoff, just fluff filler bullshit.

In fact season 2 is better if you skip these episodes. Knowing that bix's retarded ass flees to go live with her baby as an undocumented worker on a farm world where she already knows is dangerous and subject to imperial inspection, arrest, detainment, or death, and she choses to go live there anyway? kills any hope that her character isn't fucking retarded. If you don't watch the first arc then it's just generic habitable world and there's hope that she and the baby lives on, knowing that andor is about to die in rogue one. But nope, she's dead now too.

In fact if you review the sperg from screamfeeder you'll realize that every single thing on his list is actually learned in detail in episodes 4-12, further cementing that episodes 1-3 are pointless. The only thing that you miss out on is that Andor steal's a prototype tie fighter that allegedly, is the basis for Vader's tie fighter? Who cares, irrelevant. it never comes up again and there is no tie in for it (get it?).

it would be like spending 75 million dollars and 3 hours of TV on a boring lecture to learn that the emperor get's his toothpaste from Hoth. Gee thanks for that. What a fucking waste. but "muhhhh world building" :emoji_fork_knife_plate::emoji_poop::emoji_coffin::emoji_gay_pride_flag:

When K was dealing with tac squad 2, they cut away from one of the troopers and what I thought was an ADR line of "STOP RIGHT THERE". But now I'm not so sure it was ADR, it's too different from when he yells "Sargent!".

The first arc is the weakest in both seasons... but "bad Andor" is still 100x better than anything else Star Wars they made in the last 25 years. I loved every minute of this show and it is really sad that it's over.

Tony Gilroy changed everything I thought and felt about Star Wars. It made all the other Star Wars stories even better. First thing I did after finishing Andor was go watch Rogue 1... and it was even better. Then I had to go watch A New Hope.

I doubt Disney will get another talent like Gilroy to produce future shows/movies, but I will hold out some glimmer of hope.
