Just finished watching this. Overall I’d say it was overhyped. I think Star Wars fans have been beaten down to such a low bar that when something finally comes along that at least meets the bar they think it actually exceeds it. It was good but honestly nothing special. I found it profoundly fucked up that Bix finds out she’s pregnant with cassian’s child and leaves him. The narrative that puts in the minds of young women is absolutely AWFUL

show runners think armor looks cool but combat would be boring if armor actually did it's job.
mandalorian had like 1 shoulder piece of beskar and it somehow attracted all of the blaster fire

oh and his stupid helmet too

tuesday, time for a new 3 episodes of Andor!

oh wait :(

cast has been doing a TON of interviews the past 2 weeks as part of the Emmy campaign, they are nominated for 23 emmys I think. Announcements are gonna be July 15th, hoping they get a ton of noms and wins. Its easily the best show of 2025.

Also while I personally think Kathleen Kennedy ruined Star Wars due to weak leadership during the sequel movie trilogy, credit must be given where its due. Andor exists in its current form because of her, Gilroy actually was thinking of quitting during the writers strike last year and just not finishing but she convinced him to finish it up. She also protected the project heavily, made sure s2 got the budget it needed (disney bean counters wanted to cut it down in half), and protected it from the Filoni crew at Lucas who do not like it at all, presumably because it makes it harder for them to raise the quality bar on their mid-tier writing.

In many ways her leadership style - letting creative people do whatever they want with little oversight other than firing people who clash with her - worked perfectly with Andor, solely because Gilroy is a genius. It didn't work at all with JJ Abrams, The Acolyte, Boba Fett, etc where the creatives ran all over her with shit content.

It is 23 and I hope Andor wins every one of them.

Game of Thrones still holds the record at 32.

I don't know what to think about Kathleen Kennedy at this point.

We had to endure an utterly embarrassing trilogy, show after show infused with DEI and political messaging, a war against the legacy fandom, a failure to capture the imaginations of the new generation, and the best Star Wars show/content ever created (Andor S1/S2)?? Whaaat?

I guess I just have to chalk it up to her willingness to give a chance to creators that never had any business telling Star Wars stories in the first place and backing up their creative visions to a fault? So she is bad, but not all bad? She is like Darth Vader, with a redemption arc at the end? Rather than Palpatine, evil to the core?

Yes Kennedy with more goodwill and money then God managed to torpedo the most valuable Scifi IP in history, but hey maybe this show that's slightly reaching the potential of what an amazing SW series could he will redeem her.

Don't make excuses for that cunt the only way she redeems herself is if she fucks off in a most hilarious way (eaten by a bear, fall out of a hot air balloon, etc etc)

Imagine thinking this is an Emmy worthy show when people have to preface season 2 with “skip the first 3 episodes”…..

Andor is still a failure. No one watched it. She's terrible from any angle. She tried to force the force is female down everyone's throat for a decade. Turned Lando into some kind of robot fondling faggot. Leia into Mary Poppins. Han into a deadbeat dad. Luke into a child murdering psychopath. There is no room for anything but disdain.

Apparently the two seasons of Andor cost 650 million dollars. Which is fucking crazy. How?

Knowing that, this won't surprise you but Disney Plus is broke. Slashing budgets everywhere. 4B in losses.

While more expensive in season 2, if you go by cost / episodes it comes out to 27 mill per. Thats a shit load right?

Rings of Power is 2x the cost per episode
Stranger Things season 5 is relatively on par per episode
Wandavision was 2 million less per episode and using pre covid $ so inflation is ahahahah
Severance season 2 was 7 million less per episode (wtf)

Its a god damn bargain.

It's not a bargain. Rings of power was 8 episodes. It was also probably the most expensive show per episode of all time.

Severance was 7 million less per episode and only 10 episodes. That's a 122M per season difference. It was also considered one of the most expensive shows of all time.

It's not a bargain. You're retarded.

They would need 46.4M new subscribers at 7 bucks a month to pay for the show. They would need about 90M subscribers to be considered a success by Hollywood standards. Andor was never capable of that.

Yep. Just because some of us enjoyed it doesn't mean shit really. I tried asking any of my friends if they watched it. They're all (well used to be) huge star wars fans. Now they can't be fucked. Nobody gives a shit about star wars. The whole IP is creatively bankrupt. Andor is carried by Skarsgard, the imperial/rebel feel, and great directing. So many modern audience bullshit thrown in still sours the show and until Disney stops doing that shit and makes its marvel and star wars for white dudes only again it'll continue to suck festering tauntaun nuts.

You are arguing with screamfeeder, defending his shitty fanfic writing, he's not smart enough to defend himself.

700 million dollars for 2 seasons of a show that no one watched, probably cost them subscribers. Vs 700million for infinity war plus end game, nearly 5 billion worldwide box office....tough choice...

"Ohh but Amazon wasted more money per episode!! So clearly this is a bargain" except they paid a billion for the rights to the show which is factored into the cost.

if disney could produce more movies at infinity war level then yeah the $700m was "wasted" but Marvel has only made total dogshit the last few years and spent way more than $2 billion on it -- secret invasion, echo, captain black america and his pal red hulk, eternals, ant man 3, the marvel terrorists, daredevil is back, mando s3, sequel trilogy, boba fett, THE POWER OF MANY ACOLYTES, snow white, on and on. nothing but endless garbage.

as a disney shareholder i'm pissed at how much money and IP and time disney/marvel/star wars pissed away, but as a viewer I don't give a fuck what disney spends and i'm glad I got 2 years / 24 episodes of andor which will be in my library forever and i'll rewatch every few years.

i'm 100% sure the next few things Marvel and Star Wars put out will be garbage - Ironheart, LOL - so one gem among a pile of shit is better than just endless piles of shit.

There were a couple of lesbos in Andor, so that's all she was focused on probably.
