Still playing Kingdom Rush, and still enjoying it. I've decided to venture into the Heroic & Iron Challenges. They get pretty brutal. I need to figure out how to be better at this game, though it does seem that some of the trouble is luck based.

Bumping this thread yet again. I play this game randomly at work. Restroom and lunch break.

Anyway, I've been focusing on hard mode. I've been playing Hard mode campaign, Hard Heroid challenge as well as Hard Iron challenge. I've finished all 3 sets up to level 6 so far. I'm currently on Hard Iron for level 7. This gets really challenging, and I'm enjoying it. What I don't like is the randomness of different stages. You sometimes get lucky, sometimes 1 guy dies early and you end up losing the level because of it. It's fun trying to logic your way through the problems though. I'll admit that I've cheated a bit on 2 levels by checking Youtube for hard mode walkthroughs, but it's still fun. This game is addictive and difficult at the same time.

A lot of people have been playing Candy Crush Saga, heh. I come across people at random that are into the game. I tried it for a while, but I got to a point where it was blatantly obvious they were just giving you shit setups to get you to buy boosters. I refuse to do that.

I just stick to Sudoku or Dungeon Siege. Flow Free, Flow Free (Bridges), and Power Flow were all guilty pleasures of mine too.

Although lately I've been contemplating an RPG, but nothing Final Fantasy since I've played them a million times.

WTB some folks signing up for Guardian Cross on iOS. It's free and it would help me (and you, actually, if you want to actually play) out. You get a free 4 star guardian for signing up with someone else's code. It's a card fighting game, a la Square Enix, so it's decent.

My code's SK97219. Just enter it when you choose your name.

I'll sign up under your code tomorrow. Is there a break down of rewards? Should we try for a chain of referrals or try to get 3-5 per person then switch it?

You get a reward at 1 person invited (Gremorycard), then 3/5 (same guardian,Iduncard), then 7/10 (same guardian,Artemiscard). It is advantageous to get both the 3 and the 5 reward (and both the 7 and 10), because you need two of the same guardian to create a stronger one through fusion. Note that Gremory can't be fused. Also, both the inviter and the new player get a Gremory, so it's a good idea to use someone's code if you want to play anyway as you start off with a 4 star card that way.

Not much is known about Artemis. I'm betting there aren't a great number of them out there at this point.

Here's a description of the cards:http://guardian-cross.wikia.com/wiki...itation_Reward

It would probably be a good idea to stop at 5 and then switch to the next person, unless there are actually that many of us that want to play... (and if there are, I'll start a thread for this)

I played it at IOS launch last year and while it easily had the best presentation in the genre it was very shallow and turned pretty quickly into an awful dupe filled mess. Have they added a ton of content since or for the Android launch?

The silver/gold slimes were used as a trade currency back then.

I downloaded the game for Android and tried to put your code in, just in case. Turns out it was invalid for our version of Guardian Cross.

Anyway, if an Android player wants to try this, here is my code: HS26446

Yeah, the Android version won't take iOS codes, and vice-versa.

Not sure about the dupe filled mess, but it's somewhat likely that there is cheating going on. That's the case with pretty much every decently popular TCG, it would seem.

I haven't played long enough to know which of the content is new or not. All I do know is that it's fairly easy to get some enjoyment out of playing without PtW.

I got into the TCG craze as well and now I'm looking for something multi-platform (android / pc) so I have something to do on the road / at work.

I did try Shadow Era but the retarded layout on android made me give up on it.

I bought and played Knights of Pen and Paper and holy crap was I disappointed. I was expecting a silly story full of cliches in a tongue in cheek kind of way. What you get is a shitty non-story. It's not that the guy tried to skillfully deliver "the worst possible table top RPG scenario/campaign but you will love every bit of it". It's that there was no effort to put any story. Creating a good "Bad story" is just as hard and should be just as fun as playing a good story. I don't want to jump on the grammar nazy wagon but the guy also obviously does not have a good enough graps on the language to write any story, good or bad. I was expecting a sarcastically stereotypical story and just got a pile of shit. I don't think I smiled once or came out reading the DM's monologue feeling I had spent my time well a single time.

The one liners are dumb, re-used and never funny. The references are misused and misplaced.

The gameplay relies exclusively on grinding combat. Which would be fine since you quickly realize there is no benefit to reading the story at all. But the combat is a bore and simplistic. There is a small, typical turn-based strategy element but it is shallow and easily exploitable and never challenging. You got your AoEs, one type of debuf (damage reduction) and two types of CC (single target short duration or single target long duration that breaks on damage). CC does not work on elite monsters which basically makes it useless within 30 minutes of playing the game. If you play an AoE team you can AoE full elite groups and there is no reason not to. If you play a burst single DPS team your rogue will 1 shot anything that's CC'able, your mage will be fireballing, your druid will have to heal. Not sure if anyone else got a CC or why they would ever use it.

Changing your party mid-game is a ridiculous grind. You have to baby-sit and farm XP/gold which sucks because you must use some of your high levels characters to baby sit, and they earn XP too. And you have to if you want to play some of the unlockable classes. Unless you play the game through more than once and oh dear god, will I.

TLDR - There are lots of turn based tactical RPGs out there and I just do not understand the appeal of KoPP or the quality of the reviews I have read. The story is a sad pile of dried poo, the combat is simplistic, the grind is everywhere, not a single quest is interesting. It's not a "bad game in a good innovative way". It's just sad and bad.

Do not understand.

I completely agree with you, KoPP was alright for a little while, but pretty grindy and simplistic. The quote above though is what stood out to me - I really don't see many decent turn based tactical RPGs out there! What are you finding?

"Lots" was a gross exaggeration. The genre lacks on all platforms. Especially on iOS, I think, because a lot of the tactical/turn based RPGs on other platforms are mostly older games.

That being said I am looking for options myself so I will post my findings - in no particular order - below:

Shining ForceI think is the one I want to try next. If anyone ever played (old Sega title iirc?) I'd like to know if there really is that pause/cutsceneeverytimeyou perform an attack in battles. I'm probably being picky but from videos it looks like it ruins the fluidity/speed of combat.

Final Fantasy- I think there are 3 or 4 out including Tactics. People rave about these games. I'll eventually buy Tactics but the price is a bit high for an ipad game.
Battleheart- I'd call that a tactical RPG but it's extremely light on story and not turn based. Maybe not hitting the genre on the nose. Pure fun to play.
Warhammer Questis on my list as well. Looks like a team-based, turn-based tactical RPG with good reviews. Never played but reviews seem positive.
War of Eustrath- also turn based/tactical with good reviews. Have not played either though. Reviews do point out that the story is good but undermined by grammatical issues. I'm usually fine with that as long as the rest of the game is enjoyable though but it can ruin a story for some.
Battle Furywas a title I almost bought but pulled back when I could not find reviews on Touch Arcade. I should have done the same for KoPP.

Finally there isBattle of Wesnothwhich is being called Tactical RPG all over the place. I think it's more of a tactical/turn based strategy game with good RPG elements. More of a HoMM type game. Sounds quite good but not exactly the "take your 5 adventurers through dungeons and shit" style of game. The game is actually Free on all systems (windows, Linux..) but iOS AFAIK. I believe it is open source and had quite a lot of addons (free I presume) on iOS and other platforms. As you can guess I don't know much about it but that link is a good place to start I think. Will report back if/when I play it.

Shining force and shining force 2 have a cutscene for every action, yes. SF2 is the better game, but they're both great for being 20 years old.

Just started that game a few days ago, could use some people using my code too.

Can't believe I'm bothering spoilering the story. My team is roughly level 33 all around and I stopped when

The Alien guy starts building docks on the new beach area in the north west. I think that's part of an update that is past the main story arch that was originally released so I finished the "original" game. I stopped when about 6 quests in a row had me grind monster kills and escorts which stop you at every map/city to kill 1-2 monsters of that map's level. I was fighting groups of two level 1 rats or one level 8 bandit at every turn with a level 33 party. I asked myself why I was bothering and did not come up with an answer.

Need a recommendation for a real good game for a phone(S4). Something with a story where gay on screen controls wont be too much of a pain in the ass.
