never read any of this shit - i know of kang from the loki show , what is kang dynasty? tl;dr?

Kang is an inter-dimensional warlord that also transcends time.

This is the first in a five-part story that's about Kang, it's solid

lol yeah that was unmistakable chimp noise at the end. edit or real?

lol just got back from seeing it, pretty sure thats the real audio

Wait, so that wasn't just pitch-shifted up to avoid getting taken down? I assumed that was just more of a yell or scream and the pitch-shift made it sound like a chimp. No fucking way lol.

oh my bad i didn't watch the whole thing, i skipped to the end of the YT clip. the video as a whole was in fact pitched up. actually i think it's sped up too, running it at 0.75x seemed more correct. that being said, even in the theater it DID sound chimp-ish at the end when they show the crowd.

It is. Wow. The arena scene at the end sounds completely indistinguishable from a horde of chimps screeching.

On that note, probably a longshot, anyone happen to know what the first song in the credits is? The one before that scene. Sounded like maybe Hans Zimmer or something, really bad-ass track. Someone shazam it or something.

As for the movie itself, just saw it. Not gonna really spoil anything, general thoughts: Kang is easily the best thing about the movie and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do next with the character. Majors acts the fuck out of this movie (TBH he's probably too good of an actor to be doing superhero movies) and it looks like he's gonna be a recurring villain throughout the next bunch of movies. Which is very different from the usual "bad guy appears during the team-up bookend movie" formula.

I felt like they scaled back the humor a lot in this one, so not sure why reviews are saying the movie is too jokey. It doesn't scale them back so much that it becomes a bummer either (something other reviews are saying, I hear). I think they struck a decent enough balance here. Wish they would have left in more of the family drama scenes though because as it is the daughter just comes off as very angsty without us really getting a handle on why.

All in all I'd say this is an above-average MCU movie, at least by the post-Thanos lower barometer. The only real complaint I have about it is that there's zero tension at all whenever a female character fights, since female characters never actually lose or even take significant lumps in modern MCU movies. Even against an unstoppable menace like Kang, every time a female character went head-to-head with him I didn't feel any tension whatsoever for their safety, nor should I have, because none of them ever got hurt. Female characters in the MCU just no-sell everything like the Undertaker in 1991 and their attacks are twice as effective as the men's. So I was worried for the safety of the male characters but they just killed the tension around anyone female because you know the showrunners don't have the guts to let the females even get scratched.

Kang was awesome and made the movie. I want to see more of that variant in future MCU movies. Modok was a pure joke and didn’t like how they portrayed him in the movie. Movie wasn’t terrible but wasn’t great also. If you have Disney+ I say wait for it then.

Yep see it for Kang, and totally agreed Majors is way too good of an actor for MCU, atleast he isnt wasted here like Bale was. I hope he is just the bad guy of all of these leading up to avengers (minus Guardians ofcourse).

Was fun seeing Rama Tut, Immoritus and Scarlet Centurion, was kinda sad to see the Conqueror version killed off but they needed an excuse to get the variants involved so I get it. Atleast it was done in a way that he can come back and have it make sense if they want to go that way as well.

i haven't seen it yet, but all i know the daughter (katheryn newton) from is supernatural. she plays castiel's daughter. well, castiel's human host's daughter and she was SUPER angsty in that show, too. so maybe that's just her...

I heard Michael Douglas' character literally says "we could learn a lot from Socialism" referring to a colony of ants.

I just got home from Ant-Man, and I really liked it. Like, a lot. Yeah, I'm a Marvel fan-boy, but still. This was a very enjoyable movie. Without any spoilers, there were quite a few good callbacks. A chuckle moments. It was somewhat emotional at times. 1 mid-credit and 1 after-credit scene. It appears to line things up for the future quite well. At least somewhat spells out things that we can happening.

There's 1 minor SJW thing. A character says "You don't have to be a dick" followed shortly by "no more dicks!" and a sexual reference about eating things with no holes. All in all, I really liked this one. Before the movie started was a trailer for the new Shazam (looks really good) followed by one for Guardians #3.

I saw this in 3D, and it was very well done. Must have been done after filming, but it looked like it was shot in 3D.

I quite liked this. The visuals were awesome. Definitely deserves to be seen on the big screen. I don't have any major complaints. My biggest would be MODOK not being true to the comics, but he was fucking great lol. Kang steals the show and looks like he will be more hands on than Thanos during the whole lead up to Avengers 5. Also, that ending credit, it did sound like Kang chimping out. If you listen closely it is him just screaming, but with all the others screaming at the same time it does make it sound sus.

They also have Ant-Man's daughter telling the cops that they tear-gassed her "peaceful protest", then later in the movie she leads the people of the quantumverse in a revolt against Kang, during which they're yelling stuff like "BURN IT ALL DOWWWWWN"

Not sure if self-aware

Honestly they've done a poor job in my opinion making Kang feel anywhere near as ominous or dangerous as Thanos. The version we see in Ant Man is seemingly taken down by two low power MCU characters and ants. For me seeing the council of Kang on the cutscene doesn't change this. Would rather they had brought in Galactus then kang at this point.

I think the only thing that can change my mind is if they haven't shown the one true version of Kang that is the most powerful. Hoping this is the case.

Surprisingly, this is opening in China. Didn't the last few years of MCU films not get a release there?

Technically he was referring to the inevitable socialist elements of a Technocracy of Ants, but yes.
