What games are you playing that sound better than Arc Raiders, please point me toward them.
Specifically referring to positional audio? The Cycle: Frontier, which was exceptional. The Battlefield games gave me more positional audio information than Arc Raiders. My most common squad partner says he prefers Counterstrike and Hunt: Showdowns, though I do not play either.

Again, I am not talking about audio in general, and with practice I've learned to make it work. A lot of turning the camera back and forth to get the correct specific direction instead of 'thataway'. Also, sound cues as refers to elevation are not as good. I haven't played Tarkov in forever so I can not speak to it specifically. Other than that though, I am a glutton for extraction games and this one's audio in the genre is mid. Its not bad nor the worst, but after all the hype and glazing and how glowingly people spoke of 'The Finals' (which I have not played) I perhaps was guilty of expecting more, especially as the tech exists in other games. What this game is, is a good entry into the extraction genre. Its not super punishing with gear loss. Its not super 'deep knowledge' based like Tarkov. It rewards skilled gameplay but doesn't feel super sweaty compared to some others, and I think that is by design.

Cosmetics in this game need serious work btw. Not being able to mix and match hats with different outfits? Come on now. Give me more incentive to buy shit so I can mix and match it.

Lastly, do we need to set up a gear and blueprint exchange? I am starting to fill up on blueprints and am running out of people who I play with regularly to pass them to.

Single bingest complaint right now. Mid raid spawning. Apparently intended. Just fucking gay, plenty of people as is at a start, I'd said I wanted less. Late raid just fucks new spawners and the existing people as well that suddenly have geared people hungry for loot thats been picked up.

Crazy that you've had a chill experience on Blue Gate, it's been nothing but PVP for me as people are fighting over the olive grove to upgrade their chickens.
3 Raids there today, seeing like 10 a match, all running around care bear mode. Hell even night on spaceport.

I had to quick afk in game and my teams ran like 100m ahead. Came back and saw them being gunned down by 6 dudes from a distance. my guess they must had emote 'team up' but think I will call it a day

I decided to do one more run after getting betrayed and losing my uber shit.

I went all out -- crafted heavy armor, upgraded my new Anvil to IV, made three Vita shots, etc., etc. I was ready to go.

I make it throughout the entire raid and 20 yards from the extraction point until an asshole has one of those rocket chucking fuckers chasing him. Normally not a huge issue, but he comes and stands right next to me and the rocket meant for him downs us both.

Fuck this game.

I had the blueprint for the epic assault rifle in my safe slot, but I really couldn't care less.

The trick with extraction shooters is not to use your best gear for normal work. Its counter intuitive, especially if you are coming out of the MMO space. Purples are always better, right?

Not in extraction shooters. Its about economy and only taking what you need for your mission so you come out ahead more often than you lose. So run basic greens for most farming and questing until you get to the point were blues are trivial and losing a blue set doesn't raise your blood pressure. Think of it as a 'daily driver' set vs your race car. You save the purples for when you want to go do big fights, down bosses, or hunt other players.

It is part of why a lot of people I know quit. Why gather and grind if it sits in the garage most the time and you only bring it out on race day? If you /do/ go big kit your random encounter is suddenly way more dangerous for you. You learn to look at people and see how they are geared. If you are obviously well geared and they're in cheap kit, you may expect them to try and kill you cause from their point of view it makes practical sense. If they kill you they get good loot. If they don't and die they don't care, it was just a trash set anyway. Its why trusting people in extraction shooters is very hard. It would be nice if we'd all cooperate and be cool, but there is always that chance the guy will shoot you in the back to steal your kicks. The other side of the coin is if they have really good kit, they might be part of a pvp party looking for kills. You never know and its one of the few games that can really get adrenaline pumping because of the feeling of actual risk. Its also why they are and most likely will remain very niche.

Sadly one of the result of these games is you realize how anonymity turns everyone into assholes and most the time you just end up KOS with everyone cause all the 'good' players have left cause they got tired of being betrayed. You have some rare few masochists that stick it out and enjoy the challenge, but yeah. Extraction shooters are niche and most people just want to come home from work, relax and have fun. Not play a game that stresses them out more than their work and family already does.

I'm not sure I've ever seen people go from "this game is going to be awesome" to just complete frustration and contempt as fast as I have with this one.

I’ve played a shit ton of both solo queue and group. 75% of people in solo are friendly at the moment - this will probably change as people get more accustomed to the game.
Group queue is for PvP - almost everyone is kill of sight.

Because many at best were used to battle Royale, very very few are the types that could play tarkov for years were cooperation was maybe 1% of the time. And the stakes and time investment was far far hire.
The only time it hurts is if they betray/lie.

The magic of a good extraction is you actually should fail quite a bit. It's almost like pvp dark souls. It's a challenging slog but it means you get far higher highs and blood pumping than even you do succeed over crazy circumstances.

Play battlefield and the most extreme few moments you barely register and keep moving.

You can't have the super adrenaline high without real challenge and risk

One random question though, Cinge usa? Anyone else struggling with hostile pvp a lot happen to be outside the states? Saw one theory that the usa players are just more care bear.

The NA Solo thing isn't too hard to explain

NA PVE tend to gravitate towards solo play and people are doing quests so there isn't strong motivation to fight others since it can impede your questing. What will be interesting is what happens when the more PVP oriented solo players start to wrap up their questing - I suspect you'll see a sharp rise in complaints that the game needs a PVE mode since right now most of the PVE crowd is getting that PVE experience for the most part, so they're mostly happy for now.

You saw this with Dune and Fallout 76 even (Bethesda thought everyone would murder each other but instead people just helped each other fight NPCs or just did their own thing solo)

It feels like the older I get, the more I hate PvP in high(ish) stakes games. I still love shooters, but only when you can respawn quick. This game, battle royals*, extraction mode in Division, just nope.

*I still remember Planetside 2 spending millions trying to jump on the battle royale hype. 15 players worldwide gave it a try lol

I wouldn't put BRs on the same level. Because there is nothing persistent about them. Everyone starts with nothing and when the game is over, nothing is carried on. It's just a different mode of shooter imo(rng loot with forced proximity).

This game you can literally spawn next to someone at match startup who is completely geared out.

On a separate note, man Planetside 2 was great. I put 500+ hours(Easily) into that game. So much fun, and I go do so many different roles based on loadouts. That was mass pvp, when huge base battles could have hundreds of players, from ground troops, to tanks, to bombers/fighters. The Vanu AA max sound is still burned into my memory.

I have nfi what they were thinking allowing players to spawn into already in progress maps unless there's some sort of algorithm that only does it if there's still a lot of stuff unlooted or something but even then it seems retarded to allow that in an extraction shooter. It's unfair for everyone involved.

its so dumb, especially when half the match is gone, everything is looted, extraction points limited. Just why allow it at all.

Also people who've already been slugging it out for 10-20 minutes or however long suddenly have to deal with completely fresh players. Like I don't know what damage and healing is like in Arc Raiders but in Tarkov you can't just heal yourself forever because your max health gets lowered, your armor gets damaged, etc.

These games always devolve into that quickly.
The one thing I'm going to agree with, like tarkov, youll get a big flux of players but it's going to peter off heavily in a feedback loop of the wonderment wears out for the carebears and you get left with a core audience that mostly lives for the pvp. I like care bearing it a fair bit but even I wouldnt care for the game imo if it was just pve. That was pretty much what their internal testing showed. The bots are impressive but still bots and fairly dumb just with good mobility mostly. Without the added fear of a player, it gets a lot tamer quick, people figure out the strategy to basically have every enemy on farm and gets bland quick.

Hmm anyone else with issues today? Sitting in matchmaking for 6+ minutes. Cant cancel. Have to close the game and re-launch.
