Haha, I'll never get over the EU server being located in the US.
Heh, I know most people here don't give a damn, but to be frank their whole "Eu servers will be in US because it will be better for us to handle support also Matt Fuckror promises you a no lag, no latency gaming experience" boogaloo is seen as a fraud in most EU countries. For example right now I could ask for a refund and I'll just have to name drop some Eu law articles to get it. They promised something they couldn't deliver, simple as that. But, beyond this, their move was clearly a cost cut regarding subs. I guess production guys went to ZOS and said "we have data saying the game is a 1st month cash grab, so you'd better promise stuff than doing it, promises are cheap and people forget". Would have been fun seeing a EU studio releasing TESO and stated the same about US servers being in Germany / Ireland.

Aion had Eu servers, Rift had Eu servers, SWTOR had Eu servers, Wildstar beta is having EU servers, even Landmark Beta is having EU server right now. Not having EU servers at launch isn't just an insult to any EU player, it's a structured, organized fraud to sell a defective product. Some german / swedish people even talked about suing them, for the sake of it. Promising a latency free gaming experience out of fucking nowhere two weeks before launch is as genuine as a Ponzi scheme.

ZOS people, I don't know if you read this thread, but as an EU resident, you're working for a fraudulent company run by lying crooks. You may have kids to feed, wives to attend, divorces to manage and mafia debts to deal with, and you also probably got excitment and pride releasing a major MMORPG product with reknown IP in 2014. It's okay, spending years working hard hours releasing a videogame is an accomplishment. But if you have any senior position / decision making job in this god forsaken process, you have to know your company just assfucked a 500m people region by going cheap on infrastructure. ZOS is the ice cream truck selling ice cream without the cone. Right now your hands are as dirty as ours.

I was almost interested, then I saw the ability bars full of CC abilities and questioned why after more than a decade of people complaining about all of the CC in other games they would change their minds here.

Sigh 4th time getting ganked trying to get close enough for my banana turn in to count. This is not even counting the 2 trial runs before ever actually trying it. 1st try was an under water donkey but I got spotted somehow. 2nd try was solo on my speed boat. 3rd was with 3 others but we got ganked by the battleship blockade and about 20 reds (This was at like 2 in the afternoon). 4th try was solo again intending to do the underwater donkey until a random pirate speed boat managed to harpoon and slow my ship down enough to keep harpooning me until they could get close enough to gank me.

Sigh. Think I'll take a break from this for awhile. Tired of being a loot pinata and/or needing a 30 person raid for anything.

I don't want to sound like a cunt, but complaining about being ganked in a game that favors ganking is like complaining about alcohol prices in casinos. If you hate being ganked you'd probably want to group with other people to counter-gank ? I'm still newbie in Archeage but based on what i've both read and experienced this is not the kind of game you'd want to run things alone in non-safe areas, unless you have a solo PvP oriented build, which is always a diceroll in open world PvP.

I dunno about you but that sounds awesome. It's pure timing and luck, I did my bananna run on my alt in a donkey sub without issue, even got to turn in it. I did do it early morning though(around 8pst) before getting to work. Trying to do it anytime after noon or before midnight seems to increase the chance of being killed exponentially.

I can see some launch , stopping the banana turn ins for both side being very lucrative and has the added bonus of delaying the other side's economy.

Trying to do things solo in any contested zone is a big risk.

Good catch. Yeah no. I've had enough of 2 things in PvP, the above CC* and permanently invisible classes who, in every gotdamn MMO ever made, get tons of CC openers, saps, incapacitates, and everything else that makes me punch a toddler. Do they have these 2 things in AA?

*I admit, some CC is required to prevent a heal/dps slugfest and add a bit of strategery

In Vanilla I loved sitting on my frost trap pretending to be AFK at LM. Also had my cat stealthed by the flag.

Rogues were my favorite treat.

In my limited experience so far, CC in this game isn't that bad, first the duration is quite short with long cooldown, and second there are quite a few CC counters. Also didn't have a lot of issue with stealth, I mean there has been a few time where some snuck up on me invisible, opened with a CC and killed shortly after the CC broke...but aside from 1 higher level, 10 levels over me...I always have a chance to fight back after CC breaks.

There are a lot of long cooldown abilities in the game, if someone doesn't kill you on their initial burst, very often they have to wait 15-30 secs before they can use another high damage ability. And those that use a lot of CC or stealth are especially vulnerable to this as they give up other abilities for those.

This is with limited experience though, might just have had a poor sample to judge.

I would love for the ability to consign quests to you sadomasochistic nutballs

I'll farm the mats all day long and let you do the half hour long donkey ride through blood filled waters until you're crying with joy from all the deaths around you.

I wouldn't play it if I didn't enjoy it, especially considering its a huge focal point of the game.

As long as CC is meaningfully and smartly implemented with counters, it's fun for me. It adds another dimension.

Most people are ok with CC. They just aren't ok with being completely locked down and ganked with no recourse, a la early Midgard Healers, or WOW Rogues.

Like I said last time you posted on this, there is literally 0% chance that you will like this game based on your comments about what you like/don't like. It basically has everything you hate. Ganking, perma stealth, cc galore, 2 shot kills, etc. It is a griefers heaven and if you are the type of person to get angry when someone messes with you, this game will be beyond frustrating for you to play.

Habitually solo players or people that don't like other people fucking with them will likely want to avoid this game. You can still play the game mostly solo but expect to be used as a speed bump from time to time.

Its not like its full loot PvP and you lose everything bad. People are going to kill you and TBH death is pretty painless and the world is big enough that you can mostly avoid that when leveling. However, if you plant something out in the open someone will steal it and if you run around with a pack on your back in a PvP area you are running a big risk of getting ganked perhaps even from someone on your own faction.

If that bothers you, then skip this game. Especially with them announcing that Gilda Stars will only come from intercontinental trade run and their limiting of the arenas you can fully expect people to be out and about doing World PvP.

There are still some very annoying things that need to be fixed like flagging issues when people flag on you to gank they should remain free kills for 15 to 30 minutes. That would go a long way in limiting it some or at least provide some potential for payback without recourse which is how it should be.

All that said, I'm looking forward to the zone wide zerg runs that will crop up from all this. Its going to be similar to the old school zerg Vox / Naggy raids that would crop up on the server where people will band together for trade runs.

Griefers are gonna grief and that is all part of the meta game so I can deal with it. There are however a couple of things I don't like with same faction ganking.

First off, I don't like how you can toggle on bloodlust, gank someone, and then immediately turn back green. IMO if you turn on bloodlust, it should stay on for at least 5 minutes.

Another thing I don't like is how people can escape PVP via gliders. Don't know if that is working as intended or a learn to play thing on my part but here is what I had to deal with the other day.

A level 50 purple was ganking low 30s in Ynystere. He kept attacking me and 3-4 players who were PVE questing in the vicinity. The ganker had enough criminal points he was going to trial if he died. We finally teamed up and tried to defeat him and would have except that he jumped on his glider when he was about 25% health and flew to the sanctuary of a nearby Nui priestess so he couldn't be attacked. I'm inclined to think you shouldn't be able to activate your glider while in combat but perhaps the developers consider that a valid PVP tactic.
