My brother was bitching to me a couple days ago because apparently someone was ddosing battlenet so he couldn't play any of his games. Makes you think people just do these things to game services for the kicks(and to see if they can), as there is really no other reason to do it.

Regardless of who's actually running the game or not, I can't see how this doesn't hurt Trion long term. How does anyone take them seriously as a MMORPG developer/publisher after this dumpster fire?

If anything I would think its going to make western companies think twice about publishing eastern games here or hopefully give them selves a lot more control if they do. As trion is basically a babysitter with no authority or handling of the game.

How do server issues fall on to the developer (eastern company) and not the publisher/server host (western) since i'm assuming Trion is the one running the servers here and not simply playing PR for xlgames? Exploits/hacks/glitches and stuff like the hackshield issues on auroria launch = XLgames, shitty servers = nothing at all to do with trion's "lack of authority"...

Who said that? If you are responding to me, I said nothing of the sort. I am talking in broad sense(not current server issues). Obviously servers are trion's problem, as they are most likely the ones who handle all the server systems for NA/EU(or at least who they pay to host the servers).

90% of the issues that aren't server issues exist in 100% of MMORPGs, not just eastern ones. What's the last MMO you played that didn't have bots/gold farmers/gold seller spam/exploitable glitches/etc.? All the major fuckups have been from Trion (not closing servers at auroria launch despite knowing about the mass amount of server issues (lolz restart your pc and it workz guise!), tons of unscheduled maintenances, rumbling saplings (lolz we didn't know they give TS guise we promiz), who knows how long the servers are gonna be down for this time (the ones on EU are close to 48 hours now I think and Trion still has no fuckin clue what's going on).

Sure, there is a chance this whole thing sours people on bringing in the eastern MMOs but if it does it's pretty much just a case of stupid people placing blame incorrectly.

Impossible to know what the truth is. There could've been contractual obligations to release when they did. Trion could have a razor thin profit margin on everything so they couldn't spend as much as they needed on support. There could be a variety of political games behind certain fights and decisions like whether to release the entire game at once or meter it out.

Ultimately Trion and XL games have to take the heat for everything that goes wrong with it, and anyone (which includes nobody here) who puts blame on only one party is pretty niave.

I think the difference is that because of the nature of the game, the issues have a huge effect on the game. It would be similiar if the level of hacks\exploits existed in Eve as to what effect it would have. Beyond that though, its not that it exists, it doesn't seem a whole lot is done about it or if it is, something new pops up a day later. Add in the fact that the communication on everything is piss poor at best.

I've quit the game, mostly because you can't really know anymore if "that" guy who just mauled you is legit or not. Maybe he spent weeks farming his gear, maybe he just abused the game. Fuck you, asian developers.

Western mmo makers pretty much all follow the "never trust the client" golden rule. You need to trust a bit on movement, and most games these days give the fake appearance of instant ability firing, even though it is fake and happening when the server gets the packet.

But I can't imagine a western mmo developed after ultima online where the client decides the price of something for instance.

What has happened to you kids? This game has been a scam since release. Ut wails on and on about ESO, this exploit riddled POS gets a fucking pass?

ESO and Vanguard scam you out of a box cost, Ut and others slaver like rabid dogs. Trion gouges you at every turn, not a peep. How much have some of you spent? Bet far more than a stinking box and sub.

Hartsman bullshits away, no dupes or maybe 12 or was 14? Fine. Trion prints money as you all feed the beast. Brad scams his way to 50 gees? Treadmageddon.

How can all the nonsense Hartsman has helmed at Archeage be brushed aside, while Tuco posts his PRX propaganda or Bond his AA porn?

In my opinioon AA isn't a bad game. It just had awful production. I blame XL Games for being too much asian and Trion for being Trion. Oh and I also blame Eu MMO PvP community, a neverending e-gaming mindless zerg where numbers > skill. I had a terrific good time playing Archeage, but I think it's time to move on some less sketchy games.
