This is a travesty. This demographic is ripe for the picking though, if any competent speed running organisation came forward to basically create AGDQ from 2013 they'd make mad money.

Since they have sub only chat they obviously understand what type of community twitch is. What is confusing to me is that instead of targeting the demographic they owe their success to they seem to think that just silencing the critisism and mockery will make it go away.

Here's the thing: During GG, a not-unnoticeable number of gamers went out of their way to be as toxic and divisive as possible. Gamers' reputation as a whole took a hit. Video game-related businesses are now in the public's sights and are therefore going out of their way to repair the damage that has been done. Every tranny you see on AGDQ is essentially a "We're sorry so many of us are assholes!"
Honestly, though: Who gives a shit? Everybody here was quick to come to the rocket scientist's defense when he was attacked for wearing a silly shirt with cartoon girls. The entire argument was that his accomplishments dramatically overshadowed his chosen public appearance. And yet here we are, bitching about the choice of attire of someone whose only purpose is to showcase their speed-running skills.

Yeah it was boring as shit. Not sure what even compels someone to dedicate many hours and days of their lives to learn a run like that. The Hallow Knight was lame as well just seeing him float around and avoid all complex platforms.

I was just about to come here and ask how anyone can take this at face value anymore. They are going down the same ignorant path as Anti-GGers did by taking the worst examples of the ideas they are pushing for and shoving it at the majority and saying "Is THIS what you said you didn't like? Well how about we make it the focal point? What are you going to do, gamers?"
The answer is stop supporting it and ultimately watching from afar as it fails. A few of the most prominent bigoteers will get publicity and make money while everyone else is left without a unique event that could have been something bigger.
