Uh, everything you said was wrong Utnayan.
I was playing *Doom* with a 14.4 modem that cost $100, yet you claim you were playing quake with a $900 9600 baud. Sure, if you were a fucking luddite.
Here we go. A 16 year old banger already proved you wrong on this.
All of your movement was lagged based on your ping. You pushed a key, 300ms later it got to the server, then 300ms later it came back to you and you saw the result. It worked this way until they came up with quakeworld, which gave you client side movement and prediction of enemy movements, but all of your own shots were still server side. And QW was bad in a lot of ways and people with good connections shunned it and the tech didn't really work out until quake2.
Which is why the cool kids playing on Kali didn't have this problem with IPX emulation. It was all still client side. Are you serious? Do you really think this was all based on server detection on the limited bandwidth we all had? You're nuts. Grab your nuts. Seriously, grab your nuts... As you read this. Grab them. Press. That pulse you feel after looking at the screenshots section will dictate how we had in reaction time. And it was much less than 300ms. Imagine gaige looking at a 16 year old and how long it would take for him to get a hard on from flaccid. We had better ping than that.
Yes, I knew Zoid, but just from IRC and maybe a few matches. I seem to recall him being bigger than Gabe Newell.
Gave was a flicker of an eye back then. He is still awesome (Dave) and now works for Gabe.
I also hung with Mackey Macandish/Avatar (mostly in games of starcraft), who made maps for Rocket Arena, mods for starcraft, and went on to be a level designer for Medal of Honor and Call of Duty, since you are name dropping for no apparent reason.
Level lord. Name dropping for no apparent reason? How long have you known me? A long fucking time. I hope to Christ you didn't have to pay his pizza bill.
In doom I played modem to modem against the likes of Xoleras, Merlock (the guy who got caught cheating at a LAN tourney), Chunkk (mostly known for being hilarious and or certifiably inane), PVP (always told my friend he won the matches that he lost by 2:1), NoSkill, uh.. the guys who made some of the popular dm maps whose names I can't recall, many others.
At the time I was known as the best courier pirate ever seen. The Humble Guys, INC, PWA. Phreaking and making sure I was never busted. Man, those old days were fun weren't they? I guarantee you, I know more. Remember Novalogics Comanche overkill? Fantastic game. 2400 bauders had to download it for 24 hours.
I also played on a local BBS using SirDoom
Remember ExtremeBBS? I wrote the fucker. RA Access was hilarious. Remember those days?
I even had to log in as other people to get matches.
Hack.
Anyway, Quake on kali.. why the fuck would you play quake on kali?
Because IPX emulation fucking destroyed TCP/IP at the time. The main question is, where the fuck were you? You should have known this right?
That's like using AOL for internet.
Soft. AOL was good for one thing. Neverwinter Nights
Back to the point.
Yes I did play Quake via kali on my 14.4k USR, Yes, I kicked everyone's internet ass, and yes, Utnayan was born. Then I went to college, played football, left the house, fucked some chicks.
And you know what the best part of this is?
Maybe you are right and today Pong would require 500 developers because we've just all become that fucking incompetent.
Yes you fucking idiots have. I could teach my dog to code a zork text adventure in basic by throwing a fucking nibble-treat on my keyboard and have a more complete game than you complete dumbasses can get viral and talk about how complex client side destruction coding gets when anyone here doesn't know any better and buys the shit.
Hyperbolic? I never thought I would think this of you. You are a fucking Shill.
There are two left here that aren't.
Selling your soul - two doors left. 5 bucks. Kreugen is holding the fucking Ipad slide pad. Just need a 3 digit number from the back of your credit card.
What the fuck happened to you man?
